Wick the only thing I would change is the XL engine, it's a death trap for the atlas. It's a safe bet most Heavy/assault mechs will punch through a side in short order. The AC10/ LRM seems solid if you want to keep it but if your ever in range to use all those lasers you could die really quick.

I Figured I would post this build I have been having much success with. Std eng315, Double HS(18), everything else standard. 4 ML, 2 LL, AC20. I also run it with the AMS. 2 LL are chained in group 1, 4 ML and AC20 chained in Group 2. Group three is the alpha strike with all weapons, which i can get off twice before an overheat with all perks even with the hottest maps. On cold maps your gonna be spamming it which can take out most heavies in 2 goes with good aim. This build is very solid but much, much slower coming in at 56kph with perks, as long as you don't get out of position with your team it is a non issue. Able to load 28 AC20 rounds and 2k of AMS ammo. The armor clocks in at 608/614. This is a slight variation of a build that ran 2 PPC's instead of LLzers, but I found the Slightly Less heat/weight of LL along with no Min range seemed like the better option. The build clocks in exactly at 100 tons.
I'll have to try this out. I would get rid of the AMS though, and get a larger engine. The speed difference and torso twist speed increase is worth it.

yea but if i take out the xl400 i will lose what makes the boars unique... might as well use the RS then. i know it's a big risk but u just have to be a bit more careful, keep ur distance and stay in the midfield or ur team. an atlas going 72 kph is just plain fun

I love the atlas as a mech in general, but I can't justify buying a mech that brings nothing worthwhile to the table. This is basically a misery with 1 more laser slot.
Also, anyone who sticks a XL into an atlas is doomed to die very quickly. Do you know how often I finish a match with half my mech missing? Torso hitboxes are huge and easy to hit on an Atlas. Taking an XL is one of the worst moves any atlas pilot could possibly take. On top of this, there is literally no point to putting a 400 engine into an Atlas. The speed boost is very minor and not worth the lost tonnage which could be used for other things.
This mech brings pretty much nothing new to the table. We still don't have a good ballistic assault platform. I was hoping the hero atlas would be suitable for that role. This could have been so much more. As it is, I will pass on this hero mech. Not going to buy it.

Released hero Atlas isn't bad... I think, but still it's a pity that AC/40 capable and jumping variants were cast aside. I mean, 6 energy hardpoints isn't such a big thing, at least it's not a sufficient reason for me to buy this mech. Almost the same stuff as Misery only with one extra energy hardpoint, more armor and higher max. engine rating. Oh, and it's paintjob does not hold water... it's horrible.
But despite all that, I still love this mech because it's so damn cute.

I like the Boars Head, thought the paint job was fitting for the mech. its a fun ride, and it looks good for an Atlas

You could look at it as being like the Misery, but I think it's easy to overlook the difference those arms make, especially on a map like Crimson Straits where you have mechs shooting at you through holes in the roof of the 'garage' structure. Also you get a bit more armour, so there's that too.
I can't say it's worth the money if you have a Misery already, but I don't regret getting mine for one second. I just started using it and got 7 kills on my second game with this cool running brawl build: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3cd8a078640d5e8

7 kills? Wow!.. I can't say what's greater: your build, your skill or your luck. But after this I'm starting to think, that buying this "tough boar" is worth it. Still it misses something... maybe a second missile hardpoint.
