A favorable toggle of mine.

Just wondering if there is any information if this is/will be implemented. In this incarnation, I say do it within weapon groups of your choice.

weapon groups have been mentioned, and so have alpha strikes.

No it has to be a toggle in game. If isn't you've missed the point of its use.Its for used for strategy to shake up the enemy mech more often and for heat management when nearing high levels.

If it doesn't get in, you can probably still do it from outside the game's built-in controls. If you run a joystick / HOTAS that has manufacturer supplied profiling software (ie. Saitek's SST, Thrustmaster's TARGET, etc.) it can probably do it via some sort of advanced command.

Alternatively, look into AutoHotKey, or maybe even XPadder. There may be some other good choices out there as well.

Yeah, this could work pretty well.
Set it up so when you fire it also triggers the cycle weapon group key.

I think the point isn't even the functionality, as we could figure out ways to group fire or chain fire, it is the fact that hitting that button and hearing the mech say "Group fire, engage/Chain fire, engaged" is sticking to the MW roots we all love. Most of us came here in the first place because this is a Mechwarrior game. I really hope PGI will start sticking a little closer to the mechwarrior roots. Things like the properly phrased power up sequence, and features like this, will help all mechwarrior fans (the game's largest and most dedicated base) be totally sold on the fact that this IS the sequel we all have been waiting for.

What I was thinking they could do was this...
Let's say you're an Chameleon:
For the medium lasers you assign it also that it is to be chainfire. Everytime you press the button for the medium lasers it fires the two off after the other.
For the small lasers you assign as Group Fire, so that everytime you press the button it fires all three at once.
And the machine guns have their own seperate button as does the Large Laser.
You assign certain weapon groups to be either chain fire or group fire and it stays that way.

I hope it is. The weapon selection, grouping needs to be easy. Having to bumble around prior to every match and or making the default fire mode a heat heavy Alpha Strike is not the most effective way to go.

I would make it set up as chain fire by default w/or heaviest weapon first to fire. Keeping it simple is always best.

IT could be a ineffective and clumsy process like that. who knows what kindbof delay there might be this way compared to a in game solution.

also Jacob Ramsey is on the right track. I think most people want as much nostalgia value back as possible. They have the licence why not go all out

I sure hope chain fire gets in. People so rarely use it well. Those that do at all are mostly in the open without cover. It is an open field defensive knock strategy until you get to cover. That, or they are just stupid enough to think it makes them invulnerable to one's lancemates and just stand there.

That seems unlikely. It can't hurt to suggest it, but I wouldn't recommend holding your breath while waiting for it. It would be a nice capability.

Love me some group fire/chain fire.

Take the venerable STK. 2x LRM10s, 2x LLs, 4x ML's, 2x SRM6's, and no where near enough heat to shoot all of that nasty.

So you group the LRM's together (both for IDF and long range), then you have a long range group of the larges and missles (or one large and both missles), then there's the intermediate ranges.. And then, if you get to weapon recharge/reload and chain fire..

On a similar note, the Nova. Too many ER MLs to ever fire at once (unless you got that prime backshot and didn't give enough of a damn about shutdown), but if you chain them, you effectively can remove recharge lag. By the time your heat scale "lets'" you fire the next bank of lasers, they've recharged.

By default, it's the backspace key to toggle chainfire on the currently selected weapons group.

People doubted that this feature would even be implemented. Let this be a testament to the progress that this game has made and will make.
