Ok so maybe I'm the only one but i think they should make a mode to use my steel battalion controller that I've had sitting in my closet for too many years.

For those who dont know what it is ( just a link off youtube, not mine)

I think as this will be the ultimate Mechwarrior experience this needs to happen.

bump here to make it happen.

That would be amazing if it were fully integrated! I'm sure MWO is able to configure joysticks though, so I see no reason it couldn't be used.

It's been sitting there because it was never utilised into any other games. It was a really fun game to play and controller to use.

I can't help but wonder what it takes to hook up a Steel Battalion Controller to a computer. Can't exactly just plug it right in because it's Xbox, not 360...

I seem to recall there is a way, but it either involves an adapter (X-Arcade used to have an adapter that hooked a 16-pin connector to the Xbox to use across the two, so I'm pretty sure it's possible) or just straight up modding it yourself. Fairly tricky.

Edit: Found a link that explains the process. Just an interesting idea. http://www.xbox-scen...-xbox-cable.php

Was hoping to be able to avoid self modding for it to work. Oh well, got a little over a month to fit that project into my list.

This may be of interest to you.
http://mwomercs.com/...64-bit-drivers/

If you are running and earlier Windows version, I imagine there are ways to get the job done with them as well.

As for wanting PGI to build in specific support for this proprietary, obsolete device... well, don't hold your breath. It makes no sense for them to expend the resources on it. Especially now that they have the Artemis project going on. The onus is on you, the Steel Battalion controller owner.

Good luck!

An xbox plug is nothing more than a USB1 cable with an xbox tip....the whires from a USB1 cable connect perfectly to the controoler....there is no problem splicing a usb tip on the end of the cable.

I once found drivers for a SB controller to run on pc, after i spliced the usb cable onto it i actually played MW4 with it for a while, it improved the game experience heavily.

Don't splice, they make adapter cables to do it for you without cutting.

I have one for my SB controller. :-)

The game was horrid, the controller was amazing!!!

it should have been a must have for all future mech games but alas we got the modern joystick shoved in our face and the sim was destroyed by games like the sims. god. i agree this is a mech game that has more than six buttons and therefore should use the steel battalion controller.
btw what does bump mean?

The other rout you can go is to buy an X-box to USB "Box" that usually has two ports for accepting X-box controllers.

This is the rout I did as I didn't want to screw with splicing. Works fine.

I don't know how good the system would be for MWO frankly. I mean, the right stick would work well for arm/torso movement, the left for turning obviously, could map the pedals left to right as "jump jet, throttle down, throttle up." Then other buttons for whatever you need/weapons groups.

I have a Steel Battalion controller and I think I still have the drivers to hook it up to MW4. I do not know if they work with the newer versions of windows or not, but as soon as I locate a either my old usb adapter or a new one you can be sure I will do everything I can to play using mine ^-^.
