Hi all,

Here is an idea. It s just a brainstorming but I hope someone can think about it and take an action as soon as possible (aka immediately)

So, look at this first. PGI Decisions and Priorities.

We can agree or disagree with what PGI is doing about their priorities and how to handle the future of this game, but bottom line we need to remember they are here for Business (profit).

There are Costs behind any decision. There are Profits have to be met.

So, I was talking with a friend and a conversation about LOBBIES came out. My friend explained to me something I did not know.

To make a long story short, one thing is having servers that are handilng random drops (what we have now) and another thing is having a Server Farm so big to handle Lobbies.
Big Costs.

It is possible PGI either did not have funds or underestimated the importance to create a Large Server farm to sustain Lobbies. or it was just a strategical decision.

Whatever the reason, TODAY we desperately need lobbies to keep the game alive and the interest from a big part of Community.

I am referring to that community identified as Groups, Clans, units.. whatever you want to call them. Those sorta of "hardcore" gamers who want to make tournaments and leagues.

NOT ALL OF THE MWO USERS are interested in lobbies tho.Puggers annd Lone Wolves probably really don t care about lobbies and they are pretty happy about the MM the way it is.

RESULT: Lobbies are Extremely expensive and that is probably the reason why they have been pushed way further.

PRIORITIES: Make Money - Spend Less

So, here comes my idea. This should be a temporary solution, because Lobbies HAVE TO BE in the future a FREE part of the game.

But today is different. PGI is constantly trying to squeeze money here and there and i cannot blame them for that.

So let's squeeze money in a decent, reasonable manner that ALSO makes gamers happy and possibly re-ignite INTEREST in this game.

Think about other MMOs on the market. Some of those which have Monthly Fees. People who is into those kind of games are ready to pay a reasonable 30 bucks a month to play a game they like.

Honestly, if MWO was meeting our expectations, I am pretty sure there would be a huge part of us ready to pay between 20 and 30 bucks a month TO REALLY ENJOY THIS GAME.

With this in mind, let’s see what$30 dollars today BUY in MWO.

Based on the actual offers, $30 = 6,500 MCs

So, we can say, rounding up a bit, $1 = 216 MCs

Now, Let’s see what a COMPETITIVE GAMER would be available to do to stay competitive.

Would you agree that a Competitive Player would have 100 COMPETITIVE DROPS per Month?
Attention, “competitive Drops” are not the “every day drops”, they are just related to Leagues and competitions and are ONLY related to 12 vs 12 drops, in that context.

Remember, I m just brainstorming. Think about 100 of these Competitive Drops in a month.

If PGI should ask you to “help funding the Server Farm TODAY, to create immediately the Lobbies we need” and IF PGI would ask you to PAY 54 MC per Drop, when you USE a Lobby and you decide to create a Competitive drop, WOULD YOU PAY IT?

It is a concept of LOBBY ON DEMAND, right now. This is not the future. It is a solution, a temporary solution to have what we need now !!!

If PGI was willing to transform MechBays from MCs to CBs and was asking to pay 54 MCs when you use a LOBBY, would you consider that?

Now, make your simple Math. 54 MCs * 100 (theoretical drops in 1 month) = 5,400 MC per month, actually less than 30 bucks from your wallet.

This on a large scale would generate a Massive money pump to PGI. I am not sure would generate a Profit, but would for sure helping them to activate the Lobbies.

HAPPY CUSTOMERS GENERATE PROFIT. I hope PGI will never forget that.

Then, later on, when possibly their company will get better economic stability, they should REMOVE the lobby FEE and just make everyone Happy with their COMMUNITY WARFARE.

It sounds like a WIN-WIN situation to me….

I don't think we should encourage PGI to demand more money for upcoming features. If my spending is anything to go by they're raking in the dough as it is.

No. Just like I'm not paying to use the toilet on an airplane or paying for a chair in a restaurant.

Easily put, you would not consider to pay for it.

Fair enough, thank you for your opinion.

Hmm.. debateble, because you pay for your toilet on the airplain "included' in your ticket as well you pay for your chair at the restaurant included in your check.

Or were you thinking they were not part of the costs the Airline or the Restaurant paid for?

Very true.

Did they say a precise date about it? i possibly missed that info. But if they did not, lobbies will come "soon" or when they are economically ready for.

Where my idea to "fund" the lobby is just there to make this "soon" date happening "sooner"...

Either way I want a lobby so I can play stock matches with like-minded players and perhaps awesome stock tournaments.

Hey maybe we can incentize PGI do all the things we want and they promised by offering to pay. Why not pay for new game modes or pay for new maps? Weapon balance? Command chair posts?

People who say money doesn't buy happiness just don't know where to shop. ;)

I wouldn't pay for anything at this point. (I am not hating on the game, I still play it. But I am pretty bored with what little there is to do to be honest.)

The thing is, why would I pay extra for something they should add for free.

I think we are due for lots more free things.

I am still hopeful that they will repair the relationship with the community and add some more features to bring long time players back to the game.

Now if they added a purchasable PVE campaign you could play as a lance...I might consider opening the wallet.

No. This is an online game. The ability to talk to people you play with should be core functionality.

This game needs a lot including lobbies. Why in the world would I pay for a feature that is standard for any game post 1995? That's like saying I'd be willing to pay extra for a car with power steering. Not to mention why would I soy for a feature that you can inconveniently access via third part apps like teamspeak?

they are coming, they are in dev, screaming or offering money wont make them come any faster.

and no I'd never pay for a lobby.... its the fastest way to kill a game by separating playes like that
