The developers should seriously consider adding a digital odometer underneath the mini-map as shown in the picture below (see red box). When a player purchases a new 'Mech, the odometer will start at zero. As the player plays more and more matches, the odometer will keep on rising and never resets. Basically, this will show the total distance traveled by the BattleMech in kilometers. This will be a good indication of the amount of time "behind the wheel" for a particular BattleMech. This would be a neat addition to the game and would take very little development time. Thoughts/Opinions?

Please note, it would take a Jenner pilot roughly 842 hours to reach 99,999 kilometers at 118.8 kph! I would love if PGI added an achievement for reaching this milestone if they ever implemented this into MWO! :)

A lot of development time for a nicety for so few. I'd rather have new game modes.

mwomercs.com -> login -> profile -> profile -> stats -> Mechstats -> time played

And adding a new cockpit-feature is way more work than you think.

maybe they can add such a thing as a cockpit item as a MC item...

because it does not add anything to the game:
no immersion, no fun, no content - its just a "Yahoo i traveled with my virtual Mech 20km per day!"

No, they shouldn't.

Any development time, even 15 seconds, that any staffer is working on anything besides Community Warfare, UI 2.0, or new game modes is time completely wasted at best. Especially if that time is wasted for "...a neat addition..." that does nothing whatsoever.

But the the odometer that means we all would have to take our mechs in for tune ups and oil changes...

Why such negativity?

He isn't asking this be put in next week... I wouldn't expect it until CW, or even clans, but still a neat idea. I would hate to have it visible when spectating, could be used to insult people's experience..

Since mechs are powered by fusion reactors, I would think that operational time is more important than distance traveled. Distance would only matter for the leg actuators and muscle myomer.

Abstain.

I loved this idea, until I realized pgi would probably charge about $20 for this item lol would still be a cool little thing to have and see
