SO I've strapped a few flamers on my TDK and enemies *appeared* to resort to single medlas pot shots at me... and I didn't overheat in a matter of seconds.
Anyone else had some experience with the new flamers yet (flamer or flamee)? The extra 30m helps quite a bit too i may add.

Are flamers worth it?
I watched a Youtube guide, but that was from 9 months ago or so, where they said the flamers were virtually useless since having 2-3 flamers didn't heat up the target more than 1 did... and the flamers would overheat your own mech faster than it would overheat the enemy mech.
I was contemplating on putting flamers on my Jenner and be a real pain in the butt, but can't seem to find any info on whether or not flamers are worthwhile.

From personal experience...... They extended the range to 90m from 67m. I see a lot less shutdowns so they might have nerfed the heat build up.
I still take flamers for fun, they can put on a good show. When your the first mech over the ridge with flamers shooting everywhere folks tend to all aim at you not pay mind to the rest of the team.

Flamers are not worth it in any form.
About the only thing they worth taking for is to blind someone but even then that doesn't slow down the vets at all.
I doubt flamers will ever be viable simply because nobody uses them so there isn't a high demand to fix them

I was running in a spider 5d with a flamer medlas and llaser - I held ctrl so I could flamer the cockpit while using my chest mounted llas to work on the torso. Worked really well. Only 1 dude thought to switch to 3pv and I applauded the effort. Unfortunately he was an energy heavy stalker (lpl and ppc) so he didn't risk shooting at me. I left him alone since I appreciated the fact he thought to switch to 3pv to avoid being blinded.

They did change the heat mechanics of flamers in the last patch -- it now generates more heat on the target and less heat on yourself. I don't know exact numbers though.
I have a Commando with 3X SSRM2 and was running a medium laser, but a while back I changed it to a flamer and it's a lot more fun. Very few pilots can ignore a little pest who is flaming them constantly, so you can be a great distraction and draw fire away from your teammates.
I've also racked up some pretty surprising damage totals in that Commando. I wasn't really counting on the flamer to do any damage, but I think it does contribute nicely if you have a match where you're able to really keep a stream of fire bathing enemy mechs for extended periods of time.
