Blackjack: Flying Ac20

A Blackjack is the lightest mech that can put an AC20 to good use. It also has jumpjets, and is fast for having an AC20. Heat is an issue only if you use the lasers too much.

While the Gauss Rifle was my main build, with the change to the Gauss I've actually been trying to avoid the AC20 build because it's the simple and obvious change. I've found running with an AC10 or LBX10, or a pair of AC5s doesn't have the same feel as caving in a mech with a couple AC20 rounds though.

Ac20 build is great on smaller maps but on the bigger maps lack of long range can see you dead before you've got a hundred damage, tends to be very situational.

I've been using that build for quite some time. It really is a good build. I just started doing dual ac2's and 2 med lasers. Jumping over people and blasting them while u-turning is a blast.

My favorites are the BJ-1 and BJ-3, but my best matches have actually been in the BJ-1X. For some reason, if you give me a fast medium with 8 medium lasers and a bunch of heatsinks, I can sometimes make the enemy team evaporate.

Still I think its a great ride and a ton of fun.
My $.02 on the build. Go with an xl 225 and then strip 1 JJ or some armor and get an extra ton of ammo. That way you can shoot more liberally outside of 270m.

I don't think the BJ is the best medium... but it's most certainly underrated IMO. Cent would probably still be my goto medium though...

What do you mean it's effective/fun, it's terrible/boring! Reverse psychology will save it!

If comparing to the other AC20 mediums, the hunchback can't go as fast and has limited vertical aim YLW arm is easily shot off. Cicadas are just too light to equip AC20 plus a standard engine. Haven't tried an AC20 trebuchet. IMO the blackjack is the best AC20 medium.
