Currently sounds more like a popgun in an echo chamber.

AC20 should go BOOOM!

(And there should be an almighty eruption of flame. And the boom should echo around the battleground. And the Mech firing the AC20 should recoil, and the Mech being hit should be knocked back by the massive blow.)

That is all.

I'd say a little more bass in the sound would be nice. Still don't really like the AC2 sound, but the rest are alright.

After the doubling of armor so long ago in closed beta, the AC20 really isn't feared like it should. Jags and other mechs running 2x AC20s are just compensating for doubled armor.... Dual AC20s are feared, or if they aren't, a quick death ensues....

I did go back to the A/C20 in the Victor not long ago (after not using it in months) and I can say that it seems more brutal than I remember. Just that range...my god the range is short. Yes I know it needs to be, just saying.

Anyway, I think it sounds good. I like using it. I think the A/C20 is in a good place.

Please don't change any autocannon sound to match that AC5 - that thing sounds like a hammer on an anvil and is just painful to listen to after awhile. As for the AC20, it still hits like a ton of bricks, and I'm okay with the sound.

Sounds great to me. My audio is add-in, not just a cheap realtek chip, and I'm using good headphones for recording, not gamer ones or whatnot. I've got no complaints. Sure we could go even more boomy, and I wouldn't mind that, but I've got no complaints about what we have.

AC20 sounds pretty scary in a light.

It sounds good, but I get what the OP means. It seems like the sound could be better. I'd like ballistics to have that echo sound of the round tearing through the air, like when you fire a rifle in a valley.

What I mainly don't like about the ACs now is how low resolution the bullet effects are.

I am not sure why they though those bullet effects was taking up too much resources, and why not allow them for larger, faster computers?

An AC/2 looks like an AC/20.

MORE MUZZLE FLASH! That stubby barrel and huge amount of proppelant required would produce a pretty massive flare!

It is the AC-2 that sounds terrible. I honestly think the sound recording is a guy pounding on the kitchen pot with a wooden spoon.

The rest sound fine.

Download the FSB editor from crytek.

Edit the sounds and or add your own creations.

Add your new soundbank+settings into your mwo folder in the right structure. (you need to have the right foldernames or it wont work.)

The weapon soundbanks / settings go into folder you have to create which is.....

c:\MWO\Game\Sounds\weapons

The 3 files needed to be in this folder are... (the new ones you created this is....)

weapons.fdp (this is the project file for the FSB editor, dont think this one 100% has to be in the folder.)
weapons.fev (this is the exported file from the FSB editor that the game uses so it can apply reverb + range stuff etc)
weapons.fsb (this one is the actual soundbank containing your soundfiles made with the FSB tool)

I'm not going to go into how to create it all, its actually fairly simple just by playing around with it, however you will need to extract the weapons.fdp/fev/fsb files from the pak files, and also unpack the fsb one and put the wavs into a folder somewhere.

(thats if you want to be able to play around with the original sounds... Basically the editor cannot find the files inside a FSB so you can't "hear" them to see what your changing etc so you need to extract them first........it also will need them extracted so you can REPACK them into a new FSB...otherwise you wont have any sounds in-game bar the ones you added yourself........)

So, you grab your new sounds you want for a weapon, drop them into the directory you extracted the wav files from the MWO FSB to, then rename your soundfile to the exact same name of whatever weapon you wanted to replace......repack the FSB, throw them into the game/sounds/weapons folder and walla......

If you dont like your new sounds, or the game crashes cos you did something wrong......delete the files from inside the game/sounds/weapons folder that you just added there and your back to your original MWO sounds from inside the default pak files.

Ok so I sorta did end up explaining it a bit......... :) Hope I dont get in trouble now........... :)

Oh also yea I agree the ac sounds are a bit weak, most of the ballistics annoyed me.....so i changed them all to something a little more realistic....(I grabbed sounds from tanks firing etc and mixed it all .....).

Iw ould prefer PGI fix them up a little, however the problem is everyone has their own personal opinion on what sounds are best.......so I find its best if you let people change them to whatever they wanted really....or have "packs" of sounds you can switch around...

You want your AC/20 to sound like a cap gun ? (who knows why......) Then grab the "Cap Gun AC20" sound from the in-game store or something etc etc........
