I sort of like that, actually. But from a standpoint on how the game's server-authority works I don't think it'd be possible. Although I really liked how regular SRMs were done in this video -- very clearly the original intention was to be able manually control where they go from a NARC-style launching standpoint. (I want a lower-arm actuator enabled NARC launcher slot so I can try this out with SRM-6s from a single tube).



At one point he used missiles to destroy the building under a mech.
At another he chain-fired individual missiles to create a smoke screen to decrease the enemy's visual accuracy.

SSRM's are not good against much but lights imo...go with SRM's with Artemis to reduce your spread issue OP.
