I hope the Devs remembered that the medium laser on the Locust was mounted on a turret. In game terms the medium laser should track with the arm weapons even though it is on the center torso.

Looking at the 'reseen' model, it looks like the turret is now more like the sensor mount on a AH-64 Apache. There does not seem to be room for the laser turret to move right/left independent of the torso, It does seem to be able to move up and down.

My issue is I don't want the Locust to have the limited firing arc of the other no lower arm mechs. Clearly the old 'unseen' model would have a firing arc more like a Commando. The solution is to have greater torso twist on the Locust then any other mech.

I also think that with Twist X the Locust can twist to 180 degrees making it the only mech that can perform a Parthian Shot. Granted this is not TT, but hey it is the smallest mech in the game.

Nope, they pretty much stated those type of weapons are the standard torso gun type on a podcast. Something about clipping or geometry or coding or something.

Giving the gun purely horizontal movement as in a turret would probably require UI2.0 or some silly excuse... I wouldn't worry about this - the real question is the scale of the Locust. Smaller than a Spider or absurdly huge - choices, choices!

I think an extremely flexible torso twist would suffice.

You also have to consider if it does have vertical/horizonal movement, it will need an actuator. That means you can no longer use a LL or LPL. I'd like if it had vertical movement, but I'm not sure if they did that.

Good point; thought getting a 5 ton LL or a 7 ton LPL on Locust will mean taking an armor hit since you only get 3 tons removing the ML, Machine Guns, and ammo. Last I checked there not that much armor to begin with.

P.S. Cannot find out how much armor a Locust has. My 3025 Tech Readout is long gone. The MWO Commando has 4 tons. So assuming 4 tons, you don't have armor with the LPL.

With the speed cap and minimum heatsink requirement it won't matter. I don't expect to be able to use mine for anything other than comedy value.

Yep. I am trying to master everything I have three of, but Locust will be a mighty strain on my determination.

One positive is that because it is so unforgiving, the locust will be a good training aid in light recon tactics. You have to learn to flank, time your engagements, attack only weak points, when to flee, etc.
