Cw In 6 Months Or 18 Months?

But doesnt that actually mean each Phase will take 6 months?
There is some talk on reddit about this and it would be great if we can have this issue cleared up.
Personally having seen how ambitious the plan for CW is that's bigger than a 6 month job for sure.
Plus Bryan admitted the contracts aspects were not even in design yet.
Plus Bryan twice alluded to some resistance from his own engineers with regard to certain aspects of community warfare - which also suggests longer than 6 months.
As communication errors have been highlighted as an issue in the recent past could we please get this one resolved sooner rather than later so we all know the correct rough timetable for community warfare please?

For PGI's sake I hope it is 6 months at max. If it turns out to take 18 then good night. I'd never imagined a year ago that Star Citizen would have a chance to be done before MWO sees Community Warfare.

I couldn't watch the video itself yet, but everything I gathered by people talking about the content implies it's in an early design stage, and I see a lot of challenges ahead.
Just as an example:
Matches are supposed to be between opposed factions. That's an additional match-maker constraint, on top of Elo ranking and weight (and team sizes).
Merc Company members are tried to be matched in the same team. Another match-maker constraint (albeit one that can be loosened)
And then you're also fighting about front lines on different planets? Is this a match-maker constraint, or does the random map you draw decide which front you're fighting on? (Not very immersive, obviously).
How big would the population on the servers need to be, considering how many factions exist in the battletech universe? Or will we simply need to abandon a lot of these goals because it just can't be done in practice?
Considering that 3PV vs 1PV split wasn't deemed feasible on a general basis....

We did ask on the twitch stream last night about whether it was 6 months or 18 months and we were told by the moderation team to ask this question in the next AtD - which I have done. That response doesnt bode too well...

They said they need the DX11 und UI.2.0 engineers to swap to CW so it can fully start to be developed, so it means its nowhere now, and god knows when UI 2.0 and DX11 are "finished".

Unless I am wrong he said the "mech customization" isn't in there yet also.

I think we will see the full implementation of CW, if the game is still around, sometime in mid 2015. Just being realistic.
FWIW, they have been 'working' on community warfare for almost 2 years - http://mwomercs.com/...mmunity-warfare
Lastly, the fact that Bryan is throwing his own engineers under the bus right now is a VERY VERY bad sign. You do not start eating your own unless there is a MAJOR problem in your own house. Not only is it ethically wrong, but it never helps to point fingers at your team when trying to progress forward with a goal.

"That was our position at the time"
Asmuch as i WANT to be excited by all these news... its just another design doc and hollow promises with no actual substance.
And we had all that one year ago and now look what they have to show for after a whole year of open beta.
Thats right.. a new UI that isnt even complete yet.. a UI wich should be the easiest thing to do for a game like MWO.
And the guys telling us that work on CW hasnt even started yet because "Adter we finish UI 2.0 we can finaly put our Devs to work on CW"
Thats right ladies and gentlemen.. as i effing called it. Not a single line of code has been written yet for community warfare... its all just in the Devs heads right now just like a year ago.
Im not really sure if MWO will survive another year without any more actuall content.

Listen close. He said they would release more info on UI over the next few weeks, and working on getting it in test server as soon as they can. And the customizing was not in there yet.
Im changing this a little.
From looking at what they showed, I see no Pilot Lab either. He also said "mech load out" was not done good enough to show yet. I hope it is only 4 weeks away.

I will be surprised if they actually make the UI 2.0 deadline. They haven't made most of their deadlines.

heck i waited 10 yrs for a new mw game, in the mean time i played 3+expansions, 4+expansions and mechwarrrior commander and all of it's counter parts. in that time nobody released a new mw game(do not count mech assault) so if a small design studio is the only team who will give us mwo then i will support them to the best of my ability because without pgi i wouldn't have a mechwarrior game to play.
for all you rage quitters....think a bit first

Why should I endlessly support them ? I love mechwarrior. I like battletech.
It still doesn't mean I am obligated to support a flawed product to the end of time out of sheer mindless loyalty to the franchise.
It still doesn't mean I will give PGI and IGP my money just due to the fact that they are making a mechwarrior game. I gave them time, and I waited for a year for nothing. This launch didn't anger me. I only felt apathy and resignation. They promised this summer UI 2.0 on launch. It didn't happen. They promised CW 90 days past open beta, that didn't happen. There are limits to what I will tolerate from any company.
I want to care, but there just isn't much reason for me to do so.
You can break promises only so many times before 'giving time' becomes just utterly meaningless.
I only bothered to post here because of the launch and the rather underwhelming live tournament.
For the next few months, I will probably just wait and once a month check if there has been any progress before forgetting that I have this game installed on my hard drive.

A year to make a powerpoint about some things they would like to do but still haven't actually started on yet? pfffft... yeahright. All they have done is swap last years carrot for a new carrot.
