I looked but cant find the answer.
If I buy phoenix package. Will it unlock the bays for the mech that come with the package or do you have to also buy the bays also?

Direct copy/past from the Phoenix package FAQ.
Q: Do I need empty Mechbays before I can purchase this package?
A: Great news - each Project Phoenix package comes with the precisely the necessary number of additional Mech Bays in order to house your newly purchased Mechs.

If you go to the Project Phoenix website, and mouse over the mech packages, it will read "Each mech delivered with a new mechbay."

I suppose the good news is, even if you do not have the Phoenix Package, the Locust is supposed to become available for everyone on October the 15th.

I have a feeling were going to get the Battlemaster first.
The Assault is scheduled as the next class. no?

Well, one it's stated Locust is released first October 15th on the Phoenix page. Two we're two lights behind. We are two lights short of even numbers with anything else. Three, Battlemaster is specifically stated as released next year to non-Phoenix people.
To be specific... October: Locust.
November: Shadowhawk
December: Thunderbolt
January: Battlemaster
February, Wolverine or Griffin
March: the other of those two.
April: (Flea?)
May: the 12 Clan mechs in big package + another mech?

I just hope they don't pull the only availible for MC thing for the pheonix variants like they did with the Orion considering if you wanted them for MC you could have just bought the package.
Sadly I've actuly been looking forward to the locust and I've been holding off buying another light anticipating its release.

I have no doubt that they will. First of all, releasing them for MC only first is good for business. All those people with more money than patience will snatch them up quickly and that's good for PGI.
I expect it'll be like this. The Project Phoenix package is like a pre-order bonus. Pay your $20 early and you get three mechs, three mech bays, custom camo and colors. If you wait, they'll become available for MC, but you'll have to buy them individually and the mech bays won't be included, so you'll have to buy those, too. And no custom paint job. Then, if you wait another few weeks, you can just buy them with C-bills (except for the champion model which will still require MC).
Something like that.
