A serious question:

Why is the Locust capped at a 190 engine?

How about a 195 so that it is just slightly faster than the commando. The commando is much more durable, and it has that super fast reverse quirk. The deaths knell is much more durable than either of the laser boat locusts, and it can do more damage, due to the fact that it can have 9 engine heat sinks as opposed to only 7. There are also fast commandos that can hold missiles. The only thing locust can really do that the commando cant is use MGs.

See, the problem isn't that there is anything wrong with the locust. It might be the most fun mech in the game. The problem is that its hard for me to convince my clan mates to let me drive one. They all say "it dies in 1 shot" "the commando is faster, you know that right?" and "are you drunk?"

Please, give the locust the ability to run an XL195, so I can at least pretend that I like it because it is good, rather than because I like pain!

I think that initially releasing it with a 190 was sensible, because the hitboxes were untested. But I have never heard anyone complain about hit reg on the locust. Commando gets far more complaints in that department (though it seems those chassis specific issues are mostly resolved)

Even if the commando is at the hard cap for the game engine, you could at least make the locust go the same speed when you have an XL195. No-One will be mad that they upgraded from al XL190 to a XL192.5 when they bought XL195, because the 190 and 195 weigh the same anyways, so it would still be a free buff.

There is a 0% chance anyone will ever call it OP unless they are trolling. If you make this change, the only complaints will be:

•Aww man now I have this useless 190XL, but I guess its good that you buffed the Locust, because obviously I love the Locust, because I have a 190XL.

•The Locust still sucks, why did you waste time buffing it? In fact, why did you make it at all?

•How about giving it armor now?

•Why didn't you give it an XL200 so it can actually hold more than 7 true DHS.

If you look closely, none of them are actually complaints about the 195 engine cap.See? You guys are totally in the clear on this one. Promise.

The complaint you will not see:

• Aww man, this dude in the meta locust stomped our highlanders! Plz Nerf Locust!

How do I know that? Because last time I had a 6 kill match in the Locust, they complained about the matchmaker instead. No-one even said 'meta' or 'pinpoint' or 'frontloaded' or any of those silly words.

First we need to get changes to Mech Efficiencies, such as being rid of, or restricting Speed Tweak.

Then we can adjust engine caps appropriately for mechs to get better speed to firepower profiles.

Follow that with a better armor cap such as adjusting from stock values plus an extra MWO boost (similar to existing ammo and engine rating boosts) and Locusts would have a much more valuable role on the battlefield.

Although I personally enjoy the speed that Commandos got, with the incoming SRM fix, and wanting Locusts to have a greater role, I can see tweaking to improve the role for Locusts in Matches.

And as a side note, this needs something extra for the LCT-1V with it's ballistic orientation, either two more Ballistics Hardpoints (One each arm) or just improve MG's spread reduction.

hm, how about giving the LCT a CB boost quirk, say 50% more CB for Spotting/ Narc/ TAG assists ;)
that way they could keep themselves out of combat more and still have a job ;)
