Downsize that engine man, you don't need to go so fast in a mech with so much armor. Why would you sacrifice firepower(and survivability) for speed in a 75ton mech. Might as well just take a shadowhawk or hunchback instead.

I'm running a ac20 a erppc and 2mlas with a std 300.

Also, ditch that AMS, you don't need it. LRM locks are easy to break, unless you're in LOS.

Try this
2ppcs, 2uac5's, whatever size engine you can make work and still carry a good amount of ammo.
Don't bother with srms right now, like others are suggesting. They're broken at the moment, just a waste of space.

I've had some problems with the Protector myself. I originally used it with an XL325 and 2xERPPC + Gauss. It worked quite well actually, but since the hitboxes got revamped it fits a STD engine much better, and after several lousy loadouts, if went for an old classic:

Although those hardpoints are low slung, which can be pretty disadvantageous.

I managed to drop Endo and only 1 DHS, just a bit of arm armor and a fair amount of leg armor (which never gets hit on an Orion) and gain the 12% armor strength bonus from FF.

The what what now? Did I miss something big in the patch notes, or are you simply referring to the (vastly inferior to endo) increase in available tonnage?
