I was testing about with AC2's on my atlas today, and for fun I decided to try stagger firing them. however the heat increase became literally insane, overheating my mech in just a few seconds.

So far as I know, AC2's only are supposed to generate penalty heat when a mech mounts 3 or more of them and fires them at the same time. However with this atlas I was only mounting 2 and firing them at the same time.

To accomplish a stagger fire effect and repruduce the bug I am speaking about, try putting each AC2 on a seperate fire group then firing and holding down one roughly half a second before firing and holding down the other. This was fun as it generated a nice stream of autocannon fire, but it also sent heat levels into OMGWTFBBQ!! levels within just a few seconds. I can not believe this is working as intended. Therefore it must be a bug, so I am reporting it here. =)

*Edited because I wanted to put in the 'omgwtfbbq' item. It is so rare that anyone really gets to use that line and have it apply properly to the conversation... I just had to add that in.

Don't think that is a bug, but actually working as intended.
Your problem is the time delay between each AC2 firing. If you do not get the 0.5sec delay between each one going off you never reset the ghost heat counter and after the 3rd shot you are now into generating ghost heat.
Firing them in groups of 2 or 3 works fine, but since the fire rate is already 0.52sec its real easy to fall under the 0.5sec to reset the ghost heat counter. They still generate a lot of heat over time due to the sheer fire rate though. 1heat every shot so that is 2heat every sec. for each AC2. So firing 2 of them is 4heat every sec, which is the same as one mlas, but the laser is on a 3sec cooldown.

The A/C 2's are working as intended.
