I want to give more money to this project, but I have already payed for a full AAA title by this point. I have been thrilled at the prospect of public funding for games as well as the brilliant ideas presented by this game in particular but, and there always is a but, I am worried. I am worried as many of you are at the state of affairs and was wondering what will make you pay more money?

What single feature will have you buy pheonix thingum? Or premium time? Or just an oodle doodle of these expensive imaginary robots?

I have 296mc's to my name and I want a reason to give them some more money and will do so if they give me one more game mode. Not a map, or a mech, or a feature that I will NEVER use but a new mode. Could be CTF, could be deathmatch, could even be a more dynamic capture system like I had read about. But they will get more money when this GAME gets bigger, not when they add a new figurine.

So what do they have that will be the pipers song to the dollar bills in your pocket?

I'm in the same boat. 279mc left here.

For me it would be just some REAL PROGRESS. Not just talking and wishful thinking, something feasable that really works and can show a more bright future.

Something to support community growth. UI 2.0 and CW in particular. I bought Phoenix in July but will withhold untill we see these features so we can actually organise around a metagame.

Clan pack similar to phoenix might also interest me if CW looks promising (which it does so far).

8000 founder MC here.

Using it for today's hero atlas, which arrived 3 months earlier than I'd planned. I've never bought MC, and probably never will, unless they give us body mods for our mechs (different heads, arms, battle damage, etc.), emblems, custom patterns.. Bling-bling in general.

A good first step would be making it possible to spend all of those 296MC without getting left with spare change . The fact that you can't even buy GXP for exact amounts of MC and you need to use a crude slider which always leaves you with leftover MC is absolutely ridiculous. I just tried it in the mechlab and i can spend 291MC, with the next step up being 323MC. Too bad about your 5MC, buy more, it's good for you.

I gave them $80 as a founder. I have been in the beta since 5/27/12, I currently still have 14k MC left and I have yet to activate my premium time from my founders purchase. I feel my $80 was well spent as I have many hours of entertaintment from the game and these forums and I had no preconcieved notions that I was somehow special because I put cash down as a founder. I got exactly what I was expecting aside from the slow development process.

I may go with the Phoenix bundle but the slow boat to China development has prevented me from wanting to put any more money into the project.

Do not get me wrong I like the core game but the lack of any kind of persistant campain, no in game chat lobbies, and the lack of a decent UI to this point have kept me from putting any more cash into the game.

A solid counter balance to the cbill nerf, for starters.

A reasonable alternative to ghost heat, for second.

A new mech that didnt come out the door screwed due to hitbox setup, for third.

A fix for previously borked mechs. (Awesome, Dragon, Orion, ect), for fourth.

Additional ideas that would be nice to see implemented some day:

A faction based matchmaker. (IE team A gets assigned with mostly Kurita while Team B might be also all Kurita or all Davion)

A fix for the spiders hitbox, derp.

A update for older mechs weapon models, especially the hunchbacks canon. (If I take the gun out, I want to see it halved in size, if I shove a gauss in there, I want to look like a hollander ;))

A MUCH more reasonable MC price for standard variants, paints and the ability to buy 'stripped' mechs for a greatly reduced MC price, IE just buying the frame with no weapons, heatsinks or engine installed.

No Capture the Flag, as much fun as it may be to try shooting a spider that zipping across the map lagging every other step and warping around while having this massive flag stuck to his back might sound, no thank you.

A complete AAA title as an sp campaign with a fleshed out story line. Multiplayer, for me is an add on feature not the core game. Seeing as I already dropped what I consider the price for an AAA title in the hope for a good multiplayer BT title,I would consider another 60.00 for an sp component, well done of course.

Further more, I would pay for this complete game one time, I will not spend another nickel on the f2p model.

Peace

I can't really see spending much cash on this game.

I can't join favorite servers, no in-game Voice chat, and I have to spend real cash on things that make it playable. I'm lucky, only 14.95 has been spent here. Now if they started out differently, I could see spending money on it.

Like this:

20$ for the game. EVERYTHING in-game can be earned (c-bills) but not in the ridiculous proportions it's set to now. HOWEVER, you can spend real money to get things now instead of earning it. Vanity items (camo patterns, colors, badges, the hula girl) should be super-cheap, to promote individualism. I've had the same olive drab paint job for both of my 'Mechs since I got the game (back during the beta!), but my dudes in TF2 and Star Trek Online look freaking amazing, and I only spent money on TF2, and that was just buying the game!

They should have thought about this more before they demanded money for everything.

I literally cannot get a new mech without having both ingame and real cash? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over!?

Well, considering I've spent the equivalent of three AAA games, I actually feel pretty good about my purchases. I normally play a game for about three months, depending on the staying power of the multiplayer- and I'm going on 15 months here. I'd like CW to come out tomorrow and everything else that comes with it- but I'm willing to ride along some more and see where we go.

I spend about $15 a month on this game. That's in line with other online games that I play.

Sometimes it's way more than that and some months I don't spend a dime...but overall, it averages out to be about $15 each month.

I'm not saying this will never change, but for me, right now, I'm not considering paying for this game at all yet, ever, ever. Here's why:

I pay for access to a game like World of Warcraft, per month. Flat rate, and I have access to whatever I can 'reach' in terms of in-game earnings. MWO gives me exactly that. The incentive I have to pay for this game is only this: To decrease the amount of 'time I have to spend to get where I want to get'. Previously, this bothered me. I've felt like they sacrificed good game play to make the paywall work. And make no mistake, they're monetizing instant gratification by making the alternative frustration. But here's my thing: If I never pay for this game, then I effectively am getting more play for less money(it's actually truly 'free'). I've put it into other terms before, like free-to-grind, but I've become jaded to their marketing strategy already. I've seen it in a thousand other games with altogether different game play, but it's the same pay wall. I don't buy it, literally. I have 0 incentive to buy anything in this game, because I can get it all for free. At one point, I even felt like the Hero 'Mechs were something I might actually like to have at some point. The problem with that is that most of the existing 'Mechs can't even mount all the weapons I'd want to put on them, and the "Hero" 'Mechs just have more hard points in most cases. I don't see any incentive there either, now.

Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?

That said, I think, at this point, I *might* actually still pay for an "Ultra-Premium" account, if it was offered, which would basically be a permanent Premium, everything MC purchasable is 'unlocked' account. The downside would be that if a subscriber ever converted their account to Ultra Premium, there would never be any going back to Free-to-Play. If you terminated your subscription, you wouldn't be able to play at all.

I'm not holding my breath though. I don't expect that to ever happen.

I have already gotten Founder's and several MC packs. I'm currently sitting on 7900MC, and I'm not spending it until the Clan hero mechs come out. Would love a Firemoth hero to go with my Timberwolf, Stormcrow, Thor, and Kit Fox.

I've only thrown the initial Founders cash at this game, which is still a full game price. After some mech bays, I've got 17000 MC left. My thinking all along is that I'll blow it on Clan stuff.

But! Given the planned CW and PC content, I'd be willing to throw MC at a now expanded list.

1. Clan Tech. All sorts, whatever.
2. Unit specific JumpShip. Precisely, a Star Lord. Hell, maybe even WarShips, but understanding that's a stretch in 3041.
3. Fancy Unit Lounge and associated swag.
4. Fancy DropShip and associated swag.
5. Someone from PGI to edit the forum's dictionary so that - BattleMech, 'Mech, JumpShip, DropShip, WarShip and all their canonically spelled variants - no longer show as spelling errors while messing around with posts.

Either way, I don't see the need to chuck more actual cash at it right now. If everything comes good over the next year or whatever and we have a rich BattleTech universe to roam around in, then I'll be grateful enough to chuck some well earned cash at them. Likewise, they have to earn my interest in Premium Time.

CW, UI 2.0, and proof that PGI will fulfill their production timeline with at least some level of success.
