I think there is a real 'gap' in MWO at the moment.

4 man teams are sometimes not enough to turn the tide of battle when 3-4 pugs wander forward and die in the first few mins, with the rest blocking your firing line or shooting you in the back.

12 man teams are fun, but can be a real pain to organize, with people coming and going, and "failed to find match" slowing down the amount of games you get.

6 man teams would help bridge this gap.

I think they should put in any number of teams from 2 to 12 players

Would be nice to have varying lance sizes as well, don't necessarily want 3 groups of 4 mechs.

This was the organizational structure used in the canon, good luck with trying to change that.

2-8 man groups would be fantastic! However, in the current match making state we still have issues with balance and failure to find a match. I think larger groups would exacerbate the ROFL-stomp problem.

Yeah, because they religiously stick to canon and don't change things for gameplay reasons, right?

Oh boy, what I good idea. I can't describe how much I look forward to oldschool 8-man premade pug-stomping like in the beta. This would be so much fuuuuun.

Only if solo players can have their own que. it's already an issue if you get sync drops, by accident or intentionally this higher level of organization makes winning significantly easier.
