I'm going to try some of these builds later, I tried playing a few matches with the stock build last night and what a load of old sh!te.

I do like my Atlas's but this 'thing', this aint cool at all - no pun intended but while I'm at it don't try
an alpha strike on a hot map, you will go bang!

Might as well go all out with it!

hahaha, i just tried this build and it's actually fun, but/because you have to play very carefully

i also put a BAP in it (who needs leg armor anyway)

I'm actually dead serious about making that build. Sooner or later I'll do it.

If the 400 engine weighed 52.5 tons, then you would need to add the weight of the cockpit and gyro, in which case you'd be right back where you started.

I thought they already factored in the weight of the cockpit and the gyro, but now that I check the numbers, the weight given for a stripped mech is just the weight of the internal structure.

Every time i think about the boar's head, I really want to load it up with large lasers and DHS and stomp around chain firing them.

But the cost is a bit to much for me to justify doing that.

I sorta think PGI needs to reduce the tonnage on the 375-400 standard engines. Perhaps they've got a reason for it, factoring in the Gyro or the Cockpit or something, but they're all 7 tons heavier than the TT values, Actually, most of them are off...although oddly, the very light engines, like say a 100 engine, is actually lighter in MWO than in TT. Still if the 400 Standard weighed 52.5 tons instead of 59.5 tons, you could do 6 MLs & an AC/20 with 4 tons of ammo and 18.5 tons of armour.

That would practically render every single brawler build obsolete.

And wouldn't alter all the others because they'd get the extra tonnage as well. Thing is, the engine tonnages factor in the gyro and the cockpit (I thought they were counted elsewhere), so it's moot. Tonnages are fine.

I personally run a 2 'LL, 4 ML, AC/20 with AMS and a STD 350. Well armored, very good and sustained Alpha as well, with 17 DHS and no free slots left. It's perfect.

6 LL is fun, too, here's what I do:
  • Put left LL's in 1st weapon group
  • put right LL's in 2nd weapon group
  • chain both groups
  • keep pressing left and right mouse button simultaneously
  • this way you will always have two LL's firing, without ghost heat

What does adding a BAP to these builds do for you? I thought that really only helped streak boats?

I`m actually running mine iun teh stock configuration + DHS and to be hoonest, if you have the discipline to not charge like a madman or constantly blast off all 6 MPLs at the same time, it`s pretty cool...

How so? I'm honestly curious about this. Most of the time I'd rather have the extra 1.5 tons for extra ammo, DHS, or an AMS. As it is, I only run BAP on my streak Jenner-D.

you're shutting off enemy ECM, allowing friendly LRM boats to get locks and help you burninate the enemy. its really quite helpful when every brawler shuts off ECM.

I've been gone way too long. B.A.P. now interferes with ECM?

Yup. if an ECM gets within 180m of a mech with BAP, the BAP counters it.

so streak builds NEED one. LRM's its arguable, as you wont be able to shoot the ECM target and there is still a ~100m space where the mess your locks up, but its still nice to be able to damage other targets even with a raven/spider/cicada on your butt.

basically on a brawler, especially one the size of an atlas, if you can spare the weight it is a huge boon to the team without having to rely on friendly ECM that can be negated or focused down. the enemy doesn't know who as the BAP.

Hmm. I thought BAP only disabled ECM for the mech carrying it? Is this new functionality documented somewhere?

Perhaps Thomas "Zeig-le-lewski" (he told us how to pronounce his name in a game yesterday) can chime in for confirmation?
