Then why are there stock 'Mechs sporting XL Engines in conjuction with C.A.S.E. (for example JM6-DD)?

Also clan mechs can get away with this (at no cost as CASE is 0 weight and 0 slots for clan mechs) because their engines are only 2 slots in each torso and 3 destroyed engine slots is required to destroy an engine.

Its been brought up numerous times, but PGI has done nothing so far to correct the issue for over 1 1/2 year.
And what they should be doing is making it so CASE prevents the ammo explosion or gauss explosion from harming the XL engine in the side torso's - for a real time Mech Warrior game.
Note, as stated previously, CASE+XL in the actual board game protected the actual pilot from dying, and saved on repair costs - so you didn't lose your character that survived many battles or whatever, the Mech still became "incapacitated" and it was cheaper to then repair the engine and Mech. In Mech Warrior Online, Death by XL torso shot or CT, or Cockpit shot means you are "dead" since there is no character your are protecting from living or dying, and there are no repair costs.

Not really. All Clan 'Mechs have CASE by default. It is just assumed to be mounted as part of the build rules for any Clan 'Mech, Omni or standard.
