Cause youd be insane to think any one game will chronicle from 3049-3067+

Nearly twenty years O.o

Everyone seems to think it's day for day, but FAQ only actually says that it will be 3049 at launch. There is no mention of anything being day by day (despite the news in the Announcement forums etc). So, anything is possible.

BTU Time Line

There are spots in the time line where things get a bit... slower. Would appear the devs could should they have a plan to.

Here it is...

Quote

It all starts with the concept of the Inner Sphere and a living timeline. Each day that passes here on Earth, also passes in the virtual MechWarrior® Online™ Inner Sphere.

no mention apart from countless videos.

Also I hope they wont jump ... plenty happens in the time line for it to go day by day.

I'm perfectly happy in the knowledge that the clans wont be around for 12-24 months

First, it's 3049. ;)

And then, devs made the official statement we are going to follow the timeline 1 to 1, so I don't think there'đ no mention of it. :(
As for the skipping of years, it's too early to tell and even devs really haven't thought about it for now, there are more important things to do at the moment than trying to bring in Uziels and Fafnirs, etc.

I they did mention that the year would be offset, so that implies the same rate (see also the years mentioned in the FAQ), but I agree that would be insane in the medium term - they need to keep players interested.

Expansions skipping ahead is only one of two ways I can see it working, that or rearranging the cannon to better fit a game going day by day; I'm fine with either.

theres quite a few invasions and good fights between those years. 20 years isnt a bad timeline. that means i can finish up the jihad right before i keel over dead

Expansions to skip ahead would work just fine, but for my part I am in no hurry to get to 3067 or well later.

2nd Dev Blog, the 1st one about the game. ;)

"It all starts with the concept of the Inner Sphere and a living timeline. Each day that passes here on Earth, also passes in the virtual MechWarrior® Online™ Inner Sphere.

Wednesday December 7th, 2011 is Wednesday December 7th, 3048."

Well, adding minor events would be another way... keeping it local - maybe one planetary governer arguing with another, for example.

I'd rather see more mechs coming in than a true 1 to 1 day ratio would allow, I know I'll like this game but I don't expect to be playing it more than a few years, at least not with any high frequency.

You really don't know how many mech designs were in the Inner Sphere by 3050, right? ;)
