Now, a few months down the road, it would be interesting to see if the game has made any progress at all, or if we're going to get the same results we got back then.

Lack of competitive support.
Lack of proper Role Warfare or class balancing to bring Lights and Mediums to the relevance of Heavies and Assaults.
The lack of content for Lights is my #3, so you almost got that one.

Kinda hard to have competitive support when the game doesn't even work right. Imagine trying to play CS competitively if shots had no effect at random.
And as for Role Warfare/Class balancing, I'd simply put that under weapon/mechanic balance. But when we have laughable stopgap measures like increasing SRM damage because SRMs don't work right atm, then that's asking a bit too much I'd say.

TBH my first impulse was to go with the former, but now that I think about it... what's so great about just going back to the good old days?
As it is, there is no way that they're going to repeal any of the changes that bother me*, let alone all of them. And if by some miracle they did, so what? Back to square 1. Ho hum.
Fun, sure... for a while...
On the other hand, the OTHER option is chock full of things that will not be implemented within a reasonable timeframe (if at all), either for practical reasons (manpower needed to make things like vehicles, turrets, battle armor, work properly) or sperglord grognard timeline reasons (Rotary Autocannons, Blue Shields, Shoot-and-sit Narc pods, Swarm LRMs, Thunder LRMs, Haywire pods,) or they're in the pipeline but not slated for the near future, and so remain tantalizingly out of reach.
And then there are the dream items, like Swords, Axes, melee in general, and the Thunderbolt 20 missile, which would cause so many n00b tears that the MW:O servers would short out and they'd need to call in specialists to clear their building(s) of fungus.
*The heat scaling, the gauss nerf, ... hell pretty much every nerf aside from the ECM nerf. Some of those things DID need to be nerfed, sure... but in different ways. *edit* In fact, now that I think about it, that applies to ECM as well. It's just that while those things got nerfed in ways that made them weaker than they should be, ECM didn't get nerfed thoroughly enough *edit*
Seismic could have been nerfed by doing more or less what whats-his-face suggested (movement/firing related changes), not by doing those IN ADDITION to giving the module a severe case of presbycusis.

Weapons: AC dps is too high. Laser heat is too high (the fault of the heat system, not lasers). LRM's damage is too low for a weapon that spreads damage, and having to keep the lock for the whole flight time is just ridiculous. All weapon ranges need increased by (50%?) to help small lasers and pulses.

I have never played any other game where i hated some in-game maps to the degree i hate these 2 abominations
