I agree, it would.
But I still believe this is how the mechanics will work.

It would be a b iatch, for 23 players to sit around and wait for the last marik to join to make it an even 12 vs 12.

The way around this problem though, which I believe will happen in practice, and encuraged by the devs, is that Faction players joins togeather.
Remember, if you are 12-buddies with the steiner-faction, joining a server togeather in a party, you have basicly made sure at least one team in 100% steiner.

there is nothing to stop the other team from being davion, though.

Edit: I realize its quite unlcear as to what I actually responded to here :D

it was this:

Yes it would be a Bi "give me am a, give me a t, give me a c, give me a h"

As I just said, the game will be more brutal than people realise and we're going to see some seriously upset players. That is when this forum turns to pure mush. Lots of mushy little squished up players, adding too the mush with their tears because wherever they go in the game, they are in danger.

Bring it on

Hehe.
I am sorry if I am bursting any bubbles.

You can always argue that this all is nothing but speculation from me too. And it is true.
But I can not see how all those things people are dreaming about would work in real life.

And given the information the devs have given us over time, as well as the few gameplay videos and screenshots (this close to open beta) nothing leads me to believe that game-mechanics and matchmaking on open servers will differ from BF3, WoT or any other such game.

Speaking of World of Tanks.
I have never played this game, but I believe it is a tank-game taking place during WWII.
How have they done there?
Are teams divided Axis vs Allies or are there both be German, Brittish, American and Russian tanks on either team?

Which is obviously because they first have to get the actual gameplay and the mechlab right, since those are the core features of MWO and that's what they're working on right now. The persistent world and the metagame are candy for the diehard BT fans, but the game would theoretically work well without them. I don't even believe these are part of the closed beta right now (ok, that's pure speculation, I'll give you that one :D ), so that's why there are no pictures or information about them.
But because they are candy for the diehard fans, it would be pointless to destroy all their immersion by doing such a ridiculous thing as mixed teams.
Plus you might very well be able to just switch sides (losing loyalty points, but still...) if all your friends played a different faction.

*hands everyone pins to burst bubbles*

I can't wait to see what this game will be for us when it goes live. Speculation is something that can get more than a bit annoying. I know I have done some, but tried to keep it such and acknowledge what I am "speculating" about. Hope the bubbles are burst too much that lots of people are so disappointed that they don't play.

Still looking for anyone who can shine a little light on how WoT have solved the "mixed factions team" question.
And yes I am to lazy to google it, and I would probably like to discuss it with yall.
So plz tell me :P

so to clarify something i was curious about.

if i have bought some tasty clan tech and equipped it to my mech. then lets say the tech is "removed" in combat. after repairing the mech post-combat will the tasty clan tech be re-equipped or will it have to be re-purchased?

not checked for spelling due to sad mobile device

If you Bought something. You have it till you sell it

If your have a weapon mounted in arm and literally lost this arm in battle - do you lose this weapon permanently or it will be moved to inventory? If yes, what about torso-mounted weapons? –Lima Zulu

[DAVID] You will still own the weapon, and the weapon will still be equipped to your ’Mech’s arm, but you’ll have to repair it before it can be of any use.

And to anyone reading this...If you haven't read the Dev/community Q&As I would suggest doing so. There is LOTS of info in them

As far as speculation goes.... I have what I think of it in my sig (the second part :()

OP: I take it that Russ' announcement has probably thrown a curve ball at your conclusions. The Community Warfare pillar is on hold for now. It is safe to assume that speculations will run wild now, you'll see LOL

if they true to BT canon, then a med class shadow cat will be more expensive than assault class awesome.

TBH I do not see how this changes anything?
They want the game-engine to work, before they start implementing the meta-game.

Did you interpret this as "the community warfare pillar is on hold right now, and that means that I will not get a chance to fight the clans if I choose Marik as my faction, and If I choose FRR I will halt the clan invasion and change BT history?"

interesting..

Naw mate, I'm taking this news in the purest form. You see, MW:O is based on several pillars. The game as a whole depends on each one of them.

Or in other words:
MW:O is built like a table with several legs (pillars). Modify one of them and the others have to follow suit, lest you jeopardize balance and durability.

And I think this is just happening, right now. Community Warfare is where it all comes together and where the players make their final decision. If you have kept track of the topics in the past weeks, there have been a lot that touched on CW alone. Pure speculation of course.

Yeah. This exact issue is what killed MPBT:3025. They coded the engine fine, but couldn't get community warfare to work properly, and the entire thing imploded. I'm not investing time until; I see a feature complete product.

I really hope that everybody on a side will be from the same faction + mercenaries. I hope there is no mixing of factions in game like in WoT.

I'm not sure what you mean. There aren't "factions" per se in WOT, just clans + tanks you can buy. You can buy tanks from different nationalities. In battletech, mechs are produced and shared between factions. Hunchbacks are quite ubiquitous in all 5 houses though they are most common with house marik.
