super happy they are starting to pay attention to the scale of mechs. Walking around in a monstrosity 60 ton heavy in the quickdraw really is quite painful, the thing is as big as an atlas. i hope they revisit all mechs some point after cw and meta end game content get pushed through.

This pic was posted on Russ' twitter. In other news, the engine limit will be 190, per Bryan (also on twitter), so it will be fast.

The engine limit increase also alleviates some of the issues the chassis had with DHS and space.

Are you sure about this because it means that the locust will be going at 169.38km/h ?

AC20 slug is still much faster :-)

900 (meters / second) = 3240 km/h
AC20 SLUG STILLWINS

Let's look at the max armor values:

Side Torso 13/7 armor + 10 is
Center Torso 16/8 armor + 12 is
Leg: 20 armor + 10 is

So any AC20 shot to the back will kill it, and a shot to the front will leave it with 3-8 hp left.
One salvo to the torso from the Gausspult will destroy it.

I expect the locust will be somewhat like the cicada in that survival will be determined by the pilots ability to leverage the chassis' speed and his own well-developed paranoia to avoid attention.

Yep. Sounds like a locust to me.

Thats how big the locust is!? o_0 No wonder why they delayed the Flea for so long! It's going to be smaller than this thing!

Flea is probably going to be the same height as the Locust. They are both 20-tonners....in the "tiny" scale.

Why not compare it to the current smallest mech out there (the Jenner), though? :)

Wow, what a busy cockpit...
But the mech looks pretty neat.. not much of an original Locust, but neat)

Meh.

Still waiting for clan mechs. Since they were designed later on (late 80s and 90s) the designs are much better and less humanoid.

Too many Mazinger Z mechs on the previous years.

The cool thing is that this also means the end of speed caps. Isn't the cap somewhere around 150 atm? whereas these can go over 170 even without MASC

Correction, they can go 169. A few more mechs will get adjustments to max engine size, but 170ish will simply be the new cap.

That's not even that fast for a Locust. The "newest" version of the Locust in the Battle Tech universe reaches a speed of 302.4 km/h with a 280XL. And a Locust from 3066 reaches a top speed of 194.4 km/h.

That does seem like a lot of clutter in the view. Does remind me of the Locust on the original Thunder Rift cover though in a way.

Make it stop! Make it stop!!!

I actually had an Invasion era mech design that could do that, even had room for a weapon I think... that was it. Either way I'm looking forward to tinkering with this mech.

That's one hell of a cockpit. Very restricted view... But it'll be fun to sit in.
