If your rocking the A1 might want to try the 6 lrm5 on chain fire, its like a missile shotgun with constant shake on target, or a lrm 30 when all fire for targets not in the open. Still, I prefer the Kintaro-18 for this.

I personally wouldn't even consider smaller than a 280 XL engine for a serious Catapult build. I have a 235XL on my 4x LRM20 C4, but that's an obvious troll build in which I expect to die, hopefully after I've run out of ammo.

Any engine smaller than 250 has less than 10 engine heat sinks and thus require external ones, which are considerably less effective than engine double heat sinks. Using a smaller engine is seriously sub-optimal both heat and crit space wise. If you use XL engines, get 255XL instead of 250XL since they weigh the same, and it'd be quite foolish not to take that bit of extra speed for no added weight/space.

If you're 100% fire support, what are the SRMs for? If you actually ever have to do anything within brawling distances, your chances of survival are much higher with a lot larger engine. Engines don't only affect your top speed and engine heatsink count, they also affect your general agility, torso twist speed and such.

If I wanted a LRM15 build, I would go with something like this:

Yeah, it's screwed if the enemy is all ECM, but your LRM boating is pretty much ruined in that case anyway. Multiple ECM lights aren't that common really, and you can be of real value for your team by actually being able to hit that Spider that's prancing in middle of you the whole match. The Streaks are also easily the most weight efficient damage you can do, especially since Artemis brokenly boosts them without adding any weight.

LRM5 spamming is pretty popular at the moment, recently I too have been mostly driving something like this

Chain fire to cause chaos in your enemies, if they have AMS, you can alpha the 6x LRM5 and because of the faster recycle speed, you'll still be dishing out more damage per second than 2x LRM15 would. Of course with the price that you can't do anything up close, but that's why the max engine and 1x JJ are there. Stay away from bad positions.

Maybe it's just my play style problem that slow mechs feel like serious death traps. YMMV. Still going slower than 255XL doesn't make sense.
