I've been working with my CTF-IM extensively throughout the day trying to find the right builds. Anyone got ideas? These are my favorite 2:

XL280
Gauss
2AC5
2ML

XL255
AC10
ERPPC
2AC5

I'm pretty sure that with the massive amounts of heat from maps and weapons lately that the Ilya has the potential to be one of the best mechs in the game with 3 large ballistics. Its only disadvantage is the lack of high-up ballistic hardpoints and JJs for sniping.

EDIT: Testing now:
XL280
3AC5
ERPPC

That's what I used to run, but it just seemed lacking. UAC5s aren't all that spectacular. They also kinda got boring.

Seems like that build would be better off on a Jager since it can run an XL with the same weapons.

I've been exparamenting with a couple builds:

This one is a mid to long range mech, capable of significant sustained fire and stong bursts. Note it does require some adjustment for projectile drop at long ranges.
Tin Star: CTF-IM - 3xAC5 + 2xERLL - 280XL engine - 368 Armor, 10 DHS, Endo

And this is a mid range finisher, with a devistating uppercut, a new take on the 4 PPC stalker.
Crucifier: CTF-IM - 2xPPC + 2xAC10 - 255 XL engine - 384 Armor, 10 DHS, Endo

I've found in the current game that an upgraded version of the stock loadout is a freakin' killer.

3xML
2xAC5 (5t ammo)
1xAC10 (3t ammo)
280XL

I've had many games of 700+ damage and a few 1000+ damage with this beast recently.

Why to take different ACs? ammo management just goes silly....

And here you have Flak-Ilya it can offer some serious hurt, little fragile as it's XL but most games I'm able to pull 500-800 dmg (unless my team gets roflstomped) with multiple kills

The Metal Salad...
3 LBX10, 3MLasers (Engine might be an XL265).

It is an amusing build to say the least. It might not hurt to replace 1 of the LBXs with an A/C5 (or ultra if you can make it work). Then you have two spread/crit weapons with a good follow-up slug.

In anycase, that is the Ilya I am running.

This is the build ive been using recently and it is very effective, 5 tons ammo 13 DHS. If your conservative with your shots you can make it last all game. It has 1.4 heat to keep that ERPPC going, similar projectile speed for accuracy, and can still brawl with the 3 AC5s in an emergency.

I worked through both of those in my iterations and I just found that they both had just painful heat and/or too limited ammo.

Do not bring shame on the name of the Metal Salad CTF-4x
STD225
SRM4
2MPL
2LB10-XAC
2MG
I feel like with a build as insane as the LBX build you need a standard engine, and this crits like a monster. It's great to watch Hunchbacks with exposed right torsos just have their weapons evaporate.

I'm not sure how you only have 5 tons ammo, mine has 7 tons with the same 13 DHS. Do you not have Endo Steel?

This is mine: "Thumper" aka the "mixedomets." I like the single high mount 5 with the two ultras to keep one that doesn't jam.

Here's what I'm rolling with (I'm at work so forgive me my lack of complete detail)

XL280 (I think?)
2xMPL in the shoulders
LBX in the torso with 2 tons of ammo
2xUAC5's with however much ammo will fit

I use the UACs to strip armor along with MPL if they're in range, then I'll use LBX more often once the armor is gone...I've started to like the LBX in this role, mostly because I don't have to be as accurate to deliver damage. Instead it allows me to spend more time defending my own wounds.

As for the MPLs, they're in there because I want 'em to be damnit, (even if they're not optimal).

I run that usual XL280 3 UAC5, 3mlas build with 300 rounds.

It's my highest performing mech:
ILYA MUROMETS 84 52 31 1.68 167 43 3.88 48,280 108,389 07:40:05

My overall avg W/L is about 1.25 and AVG KDR is 2.66

Also I know tons of people say they get 600-800 dmg on average, but take the actual stats for damage done divided by games played and you will likely see that it is probably lower. That being said at 575 damage per game average this build puts out much more than my other mechs.

The 3 UAC Ilya is the best and none can beat it. However, when I was bored I ran a mostly energy Ilya. ER PPC, 2 LPLs, 3 MGs, 340XL, 17 DHS, and Endo. The new heat penalties make it extremely hot. It is fast and hits hard. Or you can switch it up with 2 ER PPCs in the torsos and the LPL in the arm.

Slow like an Atlas, but it'll core one faster than most Atlas' can react. Runs hot, 'specially if you lay on the ML's. I only use those to shoot over the top of things or if i have a good back shot to alpha.

Think I got you beat on the slow department. This build is made to follow that big fatty Atlus around and mop up leftovers. However, I have found it to be damn tough on its own in a brawl. And, it DESTROYS lights when they try to hug you to death.

So far I have found this build to be:

Deadly up close.
Effective at mid-range
Annoyance at long-range
