You may also wanna take a gander at the BJ-3 Blackjack. Not as fast as the Uziel, but it packs 2x PPCs and 4x medium lasers, so that should have similar punch to what you're used to. The jump jets should help make up for the lack of speed, also.

Thank you for suggestions. I picked 3 medium and 3 heavy mechs I like and will probably enjoy, so if one of them does not make it to the game, I will pick one of its "friends". For those who want to know, I picked:

Medium:
Centurion, Shadow Hawk and Phoenix Hawk
Most likely Shadow Hawk.

Heavy:
Warhammer, Grasshopper and Marauder
Most likely Warhammer.

EDIT: AlphaCat, it is the curse of not being native speaker.

This Topic hopefully shows the Dev why it will be imperative to have a lot of designs/variants available.

I too will have to pick another preferred ride as my Argus(XL) does not arrive for 13-14 years in the Timeline. :)

Centurion is a solid mech with a variety of weapons for all ranges.

Based on your stated preferences, I'd say your best bet would probably be the Griffin, actually.

It's one of the old unseen, but it is IIRC a Crusher Joe unseen, so it's legit again and thus likely to be in game.
It's a shade slower than the Uziel (86Km/h vs 97Km/h) but fully jump capable.
It was considered the staple mech of the Lyran Commonwealth, to the point that a pair of Griffins were kept in the Archon's throne room until the Fed Com civil war when they were replaced by Fafnirs.
The most common variant in 3050 was the Marik designed 3M, which had an ERPPC, an LRM/20, and a backup small laser.

http://www.solaris7....Info.asp?ID=604

Could easily swap the LRM/20 down to a 15 or 10 for some more secondary weapons.

Ding ding. We have a winner. The Griffin is the only mech that comes close to the Uziel in a medium chassis available around 3050.

You could try the Dervish but it relies heavily on LRMs and SRMs so it will feel differently from a mech that uses energy weapons or ballistics.

The Vulcan can also work but it requires patience. It blends an AC 2 with multiple medium lasers and has the same mobility as the Uziel unlike the Griffin and Dervish which fall slightly short. Whatever you can't get close to you can play the range game with an AC 2. Whatever you can get close to can be murdered by its ability to fire multiple medium lasers.

Aside from these mechs you are mostly going to have to use heavy mechs like the Falconer a few years later.

Heh...too many good choices now. Of them all the most likely would be the the Crab. The crab may lack the satisfyin punch of ppcs, but two large lasers (especially if I can snag some ER versions whenever those show up) are a good enough tradeoff for me and while slower than what I'd be used to, its not that much slower like some of the other suggestions. Heck...it kinda looks like an Uziel too, if a bit...funny lookin. Bout all I'd miss would be the jump jets, but I can get over that easy.

Thank you again for all the suggestions everyone!

Who needs jump jets, if he can rule underwater.

griffin would be the solid decent option,

ripping everything out of a jenner, welding a really long piece of drain-pipe to the side of it, and telling people it's a PPC, probably wouldn't be;
but it's still something i'd do for laughs.

you can also look at the TRO 3050 mechs as most of those should actually be hitting the battlefield in 3049 or sooner (in limited quantities) honestly if its available something from the pxh-3 phoenix hawk series (if in game) like the 3M, 3D, or 3K might really appeal even though they run ~the same or 0.5 ton less armor they are all packing 2 er large lasers and typically 2 Medium Pulse Lasers although I really hope we get some customization capabilities as there are some tweeks I would make, like on the 3M 'hawk reducing the 1 ton of machine gun ammo to 0.5 tons in favor of a second machine gun for instance

OP, check this out:

http://www.sarna.net...t:_3050_Revised

I would most definitely recommend the Blackjack or Enforcer. They aren't a perfect match (neither one carries *two* PPCs), but they have the closest characteristics of the Uziel.

The Wolf Trap & Vindicator could also be to your liking, although their weapon points are a bit different.

Unfortunately we are still unsure if the "Reseen" mechs are making it into the game so I'm ignoring them for now.

xD ok.. an Mech from 3049 exact date ... hmm?

Ok only medium Mech I see.. is a Crab... but it is still like the name...

Blah...I like "suicide" xD Sorry that i did not get that he wants an IS 3049 mech....

But why? ... I really hope they do not focus to much at BT .. because als the whining about BT here and there really starts to ruin it for me.... so I still think we would be better of,if they make a MechwarriorGame based on BT not a BT-Hardcore 1 to 1 -Game as so many want (and at the same time complain about BT)

Yes but look at it, it is a great suicide can, maybe the even the greatest. I would wait the 36 years it takes for this thing to hit the field, wouldn't you? :)

@Duffanichta
They stated that the universe we will be playing in takes place in 3049, 2012 in real years. Each real life day will be one game day. Regardless of how much alike or different this is from the TT rules, these post 3050 designs do not exist in the universe yet and are not available to us. Check out these TROs for likely available designs:
TRO: 3050
TRO: 3025 and 3025R

If OP wouldn't mind moving up in size I would suggest the:
FLS-8K Flashman http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Flashman
It's very fast for a heavy (same speed as the crab) and has great punch.

Other than that, the CRB-27 Crab http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Crab
is your best option.

I recommend Catapult. It is decent mech with speed/maneuver. Not as fast as Uziel, but formidable.
