Just wondering if anyone has any dual Gauss builds that work. I've just started running around in a ILYA Muromets (or as I like to call him, Murder Mitts) and I've been absolutely loving the dual gauss build.

Here's a nice one I've been tempted to buy for myself for a while now: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3c59e19d282b85d

They really only work in dual ballistic arm mounts, so that means the Cataphracts and Jeagers.

The builds I've seen also tend to not have any other weapons. Just the twin Guass Rifles.

Cataphract 3D with two gauss and three mlas works well, the big advantage is the jump jets let you get into a good firing position letting you use the range to good effect.

And up close a 45 point alpha can ruin most people's day.

I vote Jager myself, and personally favor the S. The high arm mounts are the best a Gauss sniper can get.

I ran them on my Firebrand for a week, but I wasn't doing enough damage per round vs other loadouts.

I ran my jm6-a with dual gauss (6 tons ammo) and 2xML for awhile and did rather well in it. I've also run my firebrand in the same config, but with all weapons in the arms. The increase in the cycle time of the gauss tends to hurt the 2xgauss jagers though. I always found them best for taking out lights since 30 damage to one spot will down most lights in a single shot.

I wish there was a highlander or victor that could run 2xGauss. Jjs and assault tonnage with dual gauss would be lots of fun.

Which is just silly. Yeah, you get extra tons of ammo, but it gives you a limited damage ceiling. Even two medium lasers ups your damage capacity and makes sure you're not completely helpless in brawling.

Yager, dual gauss, 5t ammo, 3mlas, profit. Lots. Shoot at spiders every time you see one. EVERY TIME. Few things are more satisfying than punching head sized holes through their near mythical troll hitboxes.

I used to run my Illya with 2xGauss and 3xML before the Gauss chance and for a little while after. The 3xML were a huge benefit over the extra ammo. Can't tell you how many times I used them to get the kill when the Gauss only managed to turn the torsos red but failed to finish off the target.

I run my K2 Cat with 2 Gauss in the torsos and nothing else. Couldn`t be happier with it.

I run JM6-S with twin Gauss and 5 tons of ammo, 336 armor, XL225. After trying MLasers as secondaries I decided against backup weaponry and added to long range punch instead by installing single ERLL. 10 DHS keeps it cool. I usually fire a gauss salvo from my Gauss weapon group and then immediately press Alpha Strike to add ERLL.

I use a dual gauss setup sometimes in my Muromets. It's the standard 2x gauss, 3x ml setup, except I usually run with the gauss in RT and RA for a tighter shot grouping (though it does require more careful shot setup as you lose the arm flexibility on the 2nd gauss by putting it in the torso). I consistently get numbers between 400-900 when using this setup (+30% xp and c-bills). That c-bill bonus is the key. Without that, I believe that a K2 or Jaeger is a better functional choice for a dual gauss setup due to the high arm mounts.

I think it's better to run 1 gauss with 2 (er)ppcs. Just firing dual gauss all day, you are not using the 10 heat sinks that come with your engine, so in some sense that is wasted potential. If you put the ppcs on a separate weapon group, you can fire them off at the same time you release the gauss for a higher-damage, more ammo-conserving alpha than if you were using 2 gauss rifles. You can, for example, mount all three weapons in the arms of a Firebrand for an excellent sniper build.

Firebrand don't have jump jets...With the Jump Jets you can walk behind an Atlas and jump on top of him to fire your Gauss and then use him for cover :D

10 Heatsinks don't do much..... it can barely keep my Med lasers cool....
Only use that to chase away light mechs or any other mechs that come within 540m

Sniping with Dual Gauss is much easier than sniping with PPCs.....I hate the size of the PPC being fired....they always end up hitting dirt on the ground or some invisible wall elsewhere

The ten double heatsinks in your engine are equal to 14-15 external double heatsinks. In even the most heat-sink laden builds, they account for over half the heat dissipation. They're not going to support continual fire, but snipers aren't firing constantly off cooldown anyway.

If you want a double gauss build a Jager is your best option.

it's 40 ammo, but i also think 40 ammo is low, you need 60 ammo...which is 30 shots... and damage potential of 900 dmg if you only fire it below 660m
40 ammo is only able to help you do 600 dmg max
