Does anyone else here feel overwhelmed by posts? I cannot spend all day on these forums like some people can.. I'm not 16 anymore like I was back during Mechwarrior 3 and 4.

Seriously, I can't even begin to read all these posts and try to follow whats going on here.

I really hope the DEVs do not go off of all the rants and crying. Seems like everyone is crying about something.. I just hope someone, with the same opinion as me, is going around putting in the 2 cents needed.

Mechwarriors - This isn't a book, this isn't a board game, and it's not going to be perfect.

I hope to see this game released and the community back like the good ole days of Microsoft ZoneMatch.

I've seen games ruined by the community and all the cry babies - Kinda like Mercs being ruined by all the patches from Mektek to fix the heat "bug" (which wasn't even a bug). They listened to the community and it ruined the game. I don't even blame Mektek they are a good group of guys. I blame the community that was around at the time, who had WAAY to much time on there hands to be posting on forums. These complainers got there way with the patches and STILL sucked at the game.

I see all this(ruining the game) happening again if the devs listen to all you babbling babies. I just read a post suggesting a 5 post limit per day.. although I do not want to see this happen it sounds like a great idea, lol

Is it possible to ruin a game before it's even released? Guess we will see... I hope to god the DEVs have there own awesome ideas and don't read 99% of these posts.

/Rant off

*cough* warhammer online *cough* untested last minute balance "patch" *cough*

But this is rather an example as to what can happen if a developer doesnt listens to their community at all.

If you spoke up as a beta tester against Dev decisions or pointed out where they did wrong you where nonchalantly kicked out of the beta because the Devs are allways right.

Well we all know the story about warhammer online dont we?

So its a very delicate situation of balancing out community feedback vs. own vision.

If people say your game is not fun and you say "no uh... my game is fun" people will turn away from you and your game and you end up with no customers.. meaning no cash.

Not listening to your customers can be as bad as listening to much to them.

With 20,000+ members signed up, this forum is large enough to have attracted all the normal Forum Archetypes.

It's the basic nature of a community; everybody is going to post their own opinions and everything on what they see. With this being the first MechWarrior game in a decade, of course there's going to be a lot of anticipation for it.

That being said, you really have no right calling people crybabies if you don't understand their perspective. Everybody has a right to their own opinion, and whether the developers listen to them is their own choice. And besides, community opinions aren't always a bad thing; after all, look at Team Fortress 2, a lot of content gets added pretty much monthly, and bugs fixed, because of the community. How this all comes out depends on the maturity of the community though; if your game attracts a ton of 13-year olds then of course it'll be hard to have intelligent discussions, but in the case of MechWarrior, it has a community that's been around for something close to three decades, so there's the good chance that cooler heads will always prevail.

I did consider structuring a comment soley based on the words Sack, Overwheled, Neos, Face, My, but being the mature guy i am i didnt....

I think focusing on "realism" is abit of a rich statement for a game based on 100t walking robots.

Entertainment should take priority over "keeping faithful" to the franchise. As a starter for 10 MW4 Vengeance was pretty **** entertaining.

Im sure if the Dev team wanted user/Community input they would ask for it?

Also looking forward to the release.. would be great to catch up with long lost friends/team mates/rivals from the MW3/MW4/MW4 Mercs era.

Look at the bright side - it shows that there is definitely interest in the game. This _has_ to be exciting for the devs, watching so much excitement for their project may very well mean that their faith in the game will result in a financially solvent venture.

I think the forums were opened prematurely. They drummed up a bunch of interest, then didn't release any meat about the game. So 99.8% of the posts in here are conjecture and worry and hyperbole and typical **** that appears in an internet vacuum.

That said, I don't think this forum wilderness will ruin the game, the devs aren't going to slog through all this ****, they're going to make their game and just toss out a "post questions here" thread now and then.

I know how you feel. I keep checking all day on my phone and I still can't keep up lol.

I don't think there's anything wrong with people voicing their opinions to the devs. Obviously they can't fulfill every wish while keeping with their own vision.

People just need to respect other people who have different opinions...but this is the Internet so ya know...lol

We don't have a lot of data on the game, so there's 10 tons of speculation on every topic. Once the Dev's tell us what they're going to do, we can finally add 20 tons of speculation on those specifics. :)

Complaining about other complaining, whats the point?
I had hoped the community here was mature enough that we would not have any of these threads, but I guess it was just a matter of time before they reared they ugly heads.
I dont mind people voicing their opinions or worries about the game, but this kinda post is pointless.

To be perfectly honest this thread actually worries me a bit.
It makes me wonder just how long it will be before we start seeing people ask the devs about adding pointless things to the game or allowing for things like addons and such.

I for one hope the devs stay true to BT and not listen to these useless posts.

I feel it's too much too, but take it from other perspective. It's the first official MW game after a decade. People must have thought of millions of ideas and they want to talk about them, because they know they'll get the answer. :)

P.S. Cyttorak, have you read the whole archetype page? Maybe I'm too young, but it's really hard to understand. :D

Yeah, I just got done with it...hilarious! I think I'm an "Eagle Scout".
But also, lots of big words. The author must be some sort of writer...I had to Google some of the terms.

I know for myself, who never got into MW3 or MW4 online communities in their day, it's been
building for a while, so I leaped wholesale into this forum of crazy, excited to interact with fellow
warriors :)

Hell Mass Effect almost replaced this stuff in my heart because they were making games and writing
for it that felt fresh and new.

Nope. Perfectly neat-o here. Just anxious to wrap my ten digits around a very long stick and press it's buttons when the game goes live.

DD said it best.. entertainment over faithfulness. I want longevity out of this game!

I was a beast back in the Mech3 and Mercs era.. but I'm older now and it might take me a year to get my skills back, haha :)

I can't wait for the game release and to see who all comes back. A lot of my old wings (Including DD) are gonna come back. Can't wait to use teamwork and tactics again and shoot the sh*t on coms :D
