Started this last year.
On this day I give thanks for everything Facebook and the Internet have brought me.
I am thankful for the fact that every time I login to Facebook, I have a list of women I can Friend/Subscribe to as if Facebook is trying to be a matchmaking service ignoring the fact a number of these are women so far away I could almost never meet them in Real Life.
I enjoy the yearly random mysterious female profile that tries to friend me then trick me into signing into a **** site to, “do them a favor,” if only I can pay the joining fee.
I can never forget the emails that tell me my manhood is not big enough and for a low cost I can improve my stud qualities. Clearly I am to ignore years of family and friends saying we should be proud and accepting of who we are.
The sheer joy doesn’t stop when I can login to POPVOX and actually see the bills being proposed by the government that reinforce my partial lack of faith in them.
The ecstasy of seeing people post hatefully towards each other on political sites as if the next Civil War is about to occur despite knowing that if they met in real life most to none of that conversation would happen.
It is so thrilling when the mysterious person from Nigeria or whatever third world country is the current flavor-of-the-month emails me claiming I will gets humongous amounts of cash if only I would send a small (in his opinion) sum of money to assist in the transaction.
Can’t help but love the websites I visit to find something only to be bombarded by ads all over pushing what I want into a tiny space on the page that I have to use a magnifying glass to see so I can realize I didn’t need it at all.
Finally on a non-humorous note, I am thankful for the ability to reconnect with people I cannot always see who can do what they used to do before the Internet, make me smile when I need to, back them when they need it, lift each other when down, share in the memories of what was and show that despite some changes in society, some bonds just cannot disappear.
Happy Thanksgiving.

A Facebook/internet Thanks
