I can't stand ghost heat, and I hate being forced to run mixed loadouts of more than 2 weapon types.

Bring back boating, it was much more fun.

Let's face it: a 4 PPC Stalker or other massive boats are simply too powerful. Everyone loves to rag on PGI for having a broken balance system, but the reality is that Mech Warrior is unbalanced to being with. It has the gameplay of a FPS with the mechanics of a simulator. What makes this game stand out is that you don't get annihilated in a split second like other twitch based shooters.

I wouldn't mind ghost heat if it was communicated properly. Right now, at least in the mech lab, it's a guessing game which combo of weapons will melt you down. They fix that, and I think PGI will have resolved this issue.

The age of PPC boats is long gone dude. Back when PPC boats were rampant, 4 PPCs generated 28 heats if alpha'ed. Right now, 3PPCs generate 30 heat without ghost heat. Ghost heat didn't kill PPC boats. PPC boats were killed by raising its heat and slowing its projectile.

The Grammar Police are coming for you. It should be "Boating is Effecting Immersion". 'Affecting' is a similar but different word.

No I don't feel bad. I honestly believe that boating was healthier for the game. I would say, "This game is diverse in Weapons currently, but limiting in Roles" The most effective build currently is brawling. Which is fine, I have no problem with brawlers, but now there are almost no snipers and very few LRM pilots are actually doing much damage (due to whatever factor you prefer there are many) Why can they not exist also?

No I don't feel this is biased, because it is a yes no question, does or do boats of any variety make you excited or fearful in the game? To be frank, I'm not sure how that can be biased....

Also, I suppose I will look up who richard cameron is. Carry on

The game immerses me in the game, you should fear all mechs really they all can take you down.

I don't think Boating is bad. Some mechs should have more of one thing by design.

Precision high Alpha's were more the issue, but with the standard PPC heat that seems to have been negated.

4PPC is Canon. Awesome-9Q. You just see the Stalker using (used) it more due to the not well designed hitboxes in the game. 4PPC or 4 ER PPC with truck loads of DHS was absolutely canon as far as min/max sustainabilitly of those weapons.

4PPC 19DHS - you would have 2 extra heat in the next turn
4ERPPC 20DHS - you would have 20 extra heat in the next turn

In a more straight translation of the Battle Tech threshold, and in Mech Warrior terms, that would equate to shut down on the first alpha. In MWO, the threshold is much higher so it is (stupidly) possible to fire all of those and not shut down.

Boating was never the real problem, It was the pinpoint alpha strike. 6 PPCs being fired at you at once is scary, but if they didn't always all hit(or all miss), and always hit the same place It wouldn't be an issue. Firing multiple weapons should be treated just like firing a shot gun, and not like firing one weapon. You know risk vs reward stile of balance.

Imo the game needs a blooming reticule, the size would be influenced by weapon position on your mech, movement and possibly other factors.

I didn't like ghost heat because it's another hidden mechanic to confuse new players.

However its effect on the game has been positive.

Did someone really just complain that they are being 'forced' to use more than 2 types of weapon system?

Wow.

Most of my builds are STILL only 2 weapon systems

It's just hard to base an entire build around one weapon type now

So many players that don't understand the difference between MWO and TT, and the things that made the other MW games crappy for multiplayer.

Be thankful PGI knows, because if they listened to you the game would suck.

This...saddens me greatly...and it's not even the statement about TT or PGI...

Oh yes, it makes me sad too. But if you played any of the previous MW games online and have any ability to compare the fantasy of BT combat to the reality of it in those games, you'd know that they were total {Scrap} thanks to the builds and strategies people ran.

Of all the things that break my immersion in this poorly-executed disappointment of a game, "boating" is far down on the list.

Highlighted for truth.
The DEVs didn't do it in the older games. The players did. Just as they are doing it here. The only way to stop players from Min/Maxing is to remove the lab. And that would hurt the game IYAM.

You don't have to remove the lab to fix that problem.

So what are players going to do when we run into OmniMechs? Or some of the 2nd Line boats the Clans use? Asking the DEVs to stop US from making boats when they are in the Canon already.

The main issue is, besides the lack of MechBay/Weapon info (Soontm) is that players just build new setups and take them to the field directly, melt down and whine. That is why the Training ground was intro'd. If someone does not know how the "Heat Profile Value", as incoherent as it is, will impact that build, then simply run a pass on the T grounds and find out.

Take some responsibility for your own Build ffs. Don't whine about Hot builds that have not been pre-tested before actual Battle. That is just silly and not the Dev's fault.

If anyone creates a design that ends up with a .75 (out of a 2.0 max.) Heat Scale rating, then guess what and it ain't Rocket Science, it needs a serious redo. :(
