yeah due to licensing issues many of the older mech designs are now what are known as the "Unseen". a few of them like the locust, shadowhawk, and battlemaster have been redesigned to make them useable or "re-seen" again.

The original marauder is also one of the "Unseen" however the timberwolf / Madcat, is an original MechWarrior design so it's not affected by any liscense issues so they wouldn't need to redesign it.

It's not that the Reseen we have now are redesigned that makes them okay to use, it's that the original art is actually okay to use now. Only the Macross Unseen (like the Marauder and Rifleman) still have Harmony Gold's rabid attack lawyers making sure nobody uses them without paying exorbitant licensing fees or getting sued into orbit.
