Currently the most redeeming quality of the otherwise under-performing Awesome series is that the 9M can climb 50 degree slopes using this method. The Pretty Baby can climb a 60 degree slope.

Never heard of this. Are there some quirks in these variants?

They're slow to stop due to their huge size. The Pretty Baby has the largest amount of inertia and slowest loss of momentum, allowing it to climb quite well. This oddly enough is a fluke of older design and not intentional, however there's no signs of them removing it so as long as it stays, I'll be happy to climb those damn pillars on Tourmaline and bombard people with LRMs and PPCs.

And yes, the momentum and inertia things were quirks given to the Awesomes (they were the first mechs to receive quirks) as a way of making each one somewhat more unique from the others.

Ok, so the negative quirk of decelerating slowly has an upside :D

Exactly! Of course this means in collisions it has another upside. Victor versus Awesome in a rushing match, a fast Awesome would win and the Victor would be knocked down. :D

I firmly believe that "ignore the trolls" is the best advice. Ever. For everything.

This man - is brilliant - or perhaps simply a raving lunatic on par with the Joker ;)

Who in the world would have even thought of trying to get an assault mech up one of those pillars in the first place?

It takes brilliance (or a bad case of being nuts mixed with a slight sprinkling of crazy high luck) to find an upside to a de-buff!

Edit: (wow - I am starting to feel like I sound like a Koniving {Noble MechWarrior} - that could be troublesome as I am looking at joining House Davion ;))

:D

I will never be able to use that in mech4 the same way again.

..The graphic for it probably won't help either, as on my computer at least, the mist comes out the bottom of the mech ;)

As fer takin da faktory - the only way to improve a raven would be to stick ballistics on it - so of course the Davions are gonna take it.

(Be grateful - my other choice is FRR - and you don't want me commin after ya with the clantech after they join the Bears - though my choice in dat direction is more for the political setup of da place, and the paint schemes ;))

Edit: sorry for the hijack  You can return to your regularly scheduled program now

Since we're expected to work for them all at some point, I'm not terribly picky. It's just zhizhu's gonna be located near Liao territory. But... Back on topic!

Random new information: At some point AMS has started to shoot SRMs. Keep note of this. It's largely unsuccessful at close range, however. (It requires at least 1 full second to shoot down 3.5 missiles. That means minimum distance for any meaningful effect from AMS is 220 meters. For full effect, you have to be out of range.)

Interesting note: There's a problem with non-lock-on projectile weapons. If you experience frequent failures to do damage, convert to beam weapons until the matter is resolved. According to Thomas, they're working on it. I've just been slugged by 7 back to back AC/20s and took no damage and I was in an Atlas. (Point is, it isn't just spiders. that aren't taking hits.)

After noticing repeated failures to register direct hits with SRMs, I converted to streaks for insanely superior results.

Clarified: Swapped Ballistic with Projectile, as its all projectile weapons. (Note, MGs are NOT a projectile weapon in terms of game code. But PPCs are.)

Updates made to my main post here after thorough testing. Updated information is highlighted here in bold and can be found in the main post I did here.

Weapons

[UPDATED!] LRMs can fire with or without a lock. To fire without a lock follow these steps: If mounted on the arms, aim the "o" crosshair at where you want the missiles to go and watch them fly. If mounted on the torso, aim the "+" crosshair at where you want them to go and fire. This means you can, in fact, dumbfire at two targets simultaneously for missile-based suppression. They will not adjust to a new lock after doing this. If you fired with a lock but lost it, you can reacquire and LRMs will correct and pursue target. Some people do this intentionally to shoot around walls and barriers. LRMs will NOT do damage at 179 meters or less.

[updated!] Lock-ons can be achieved through EITHER -- independently -- using the + crosshair or the "o" crosshair. If you have lower arm actuators, you can get missiles to turn around corners by using the "o" to lock your missiles and aiming at your target while turned away at an angle.
