I'm not even remotely concerned about it because nothing in the OP said that the camo would be open to general purchase. Until we hear otherwise, no need to get all fussy.

Content Going Live This Month
  • Mech(s): Locust, Shadow Hawk*, Thunderbolt*, Battlemaster*, Hero Atlas, and Champion Spider
  • Map(s): Crimson Strait
  • Pattern(s): Flame [editor's note: There is no asterisk here]
* Available only if you have ordered a Phoenix Package.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer here, and perhaps it's just an oversight as PGI gets used to clear communication, but the marker to clarify which content was only available to Phoenix purchasers is conspicuously absent from the Flame pattern. This is what's got some people upset since earlier it was touted as ~exclusive~ on the Phoenix promotional page.

Under other circumstances I'd imagine people would brush this off, but PGI keeps making hilarious missteps and then fails to seize an opportunity to *** this sort of confusion in the bud; it would be really easy to add an asterisk or post a clarification, before people start to remember all the other slip-ups.

That's really what any discontent over this is all about: It's seen as just one more misstep, much like the outcry over third person wasn't about an actual new camera view so much as it was about the latest in a series of sudden (and unexplained) backtracks.

It's dumb and should be trivial, but I can see why people would be confused and why they'd be frustrated.

There were also a bunch of grammar errors and spelling mistakes, so I figured a dropped asterisk was the culprit. Maybe I'm just being an optimist again...

Seriously, I've seen the moderation team making plenty of edits to other users' posts, when a simple edit to the OP would clear this all up. Come on, guys, don't drop the ball now, let everybody know what's up before it works its way into another disappointed-sounding news article or game review.

It's too bad the development schedule was pushed back so much but it's nice that we're finally getting to the meat of the game.

That was just their position at the time.

While I have no objection to the Flame pattern being available to all - and am in fact glad, because f**k yeah I want flames on ALL MY MECHS... but...

Seriously, I lol'ed hard at that post.

Not a big fan of the 'distant future we would like to try this' stuff as that has only burnt us badly in the past but still a helluva lot better then some of our other monthly director updates.

Waiting for my 20 ton suicide chicken! *Insert road runner sound here*

I'm extremely happy about the Flame pattern reward. As I said above, I'm really glad I'll be able to buy it for other mechs I own - I was actually somewhat concerned I might *not* be able to buy it for them though I was reasonably sure from the get go it was going to be openly available.

That it wasn't extremely clear is unfortunate, but not something to bunch my panties over. It's an awesome reward, for free. A permanent pattern over 6 mechs (for me, at any rate)? That's 1250 per chassis, 7500 worth of free goodies! That's over $30 of sexy fun time.

Keep up the strong communication, it has been bi-weekly updates with clear information presented. I am agog and loving it.

Good stuff, and thanks for breaking down the development phases and where the features are in that map! It really creates a much better picture of where things are at, so please keep it up to date.

You mentioned Overlord and Guardian packages getting their faction medalions... What about the Storm package and its medalion, albeit only one?

Thanks for the information! The insight into the progress various features have made in the development process is greatly appreciated, speaking as an Ops fella.

In design 2 – Feature brief has been presented to stake holders for vetting.

Just a thought for Piranha, all of us who bought Founders Packs and helped raise $5 Million are by definition, stakeholders.

Can I just say that communication is a two way street. You can't both ask PGI to communicate more with the customer base and then try and pick apart everything they say to crucify them with. Try doing that with a coworker, or a spouse, or anyone, see if brings more communication and understanding between you.

Anyway, before I was derailed by reading the posts above....

I like this update. I like that it exists, that there is something substantial being done to progress the game. I'm happy that the devs have chosen to put this out there. Good job on the post, keep up the progress.

In the sense that this update was given, we actually would not be stakeholders. As noted by a few others previously in the thread, stakeholders is a term used in Agile development method and refers to key players in the development team.

Translation: People like Paul or Bryan would have most control over that input.
