I don't know about an active chat system... but a built-in voice comms system would be nice :D

Didn't you see the press release?

Press Release: Voice Your Attack Strategy: MechWarrior® Online to Deploy Vivox’s C3 Voice Integration

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Voice Your Attack Strategy: MechWarrior® Online to Deploy Vivox’s C3 Voice Integration

Scalable solution to build connected communities within gaming environment through unparalleled voice capabilities

Natick, MA – September 4, 2012 – Vivox Inc., a disruptive, integrated social communications provider, today announced the integration of its C3 solution into the highly anticipated online game, MechWarrior® Online. Developed by Piranha Games and published by Infinite Game Publishing, MechWarror Online is the premium online successor to the best-selling MechWarrior franchise.

Revolutionary war campaigns begin with communication, and now the troops of game players invading the MechWarror Online landscape will be able to plan strategies with each other through voice conversations in the midst of the high-action gameplay or outside of the game.

Through the integration of Vivox C3 solution, the entire MechWarror Online community will have the ability to communicate, plot operations and create a more unified front for future attacks on opponents. In building MechWarror Online, the Piranha development team sought a scalable platform to accommodate an expanding user base, while building loyalty among players through multiplayer and team unit premium voice capabilities.

“Vivox’s C3 platform provides us with a solution we can grow into,” said Russ Bullock, president of Piranha Games. “MechWarror Online is more than just the experience of being in the game and participating in battles; it’s about building the community and taking the time to develop alliances, building factions and getting to know fellow players. With C3, our community has the ability to achieve these goals effectively for an enhanced and enjoyable gaming experience.”

For the full press release, check out the forum thread or check the article on Reuters. The fact we were getting custom integrated voice chat was on bloody Reuters over a year ago, haven't you been enjoying the ease of communications all this time?

The following features are part of the Community Warfare master feature. Each of these has been identified as an isolated feature that can be developed and released independently or as a group with other blocks. Each block is not created equal, some are incredibly large, some are very small. I’m trying to find an easy way to visualize these blocks via the website, for now text will have to do.

I would recommend taking a page from onyx path entertainment http://theonyxpath.com/schedule/ they visualize similar informatoin in a beautiful fassion.

Yeah. I read that when it was posted... tested the software and no... I hate C3... I prefer TeamSpeak, Ventrilo, or Mumble... what I am referring to is an actual built-in feature, not another third party software... Mind you I pay for my unit's Mumble server so we can have ease of communication. What I want to see is something integrated directly into the game for all members of a team, premade or not to hear and communicate without issue... another reason I avoided C3 so much was it's interface and the fact that I didn't have to have a 12yr old kid screaming in my ear for whatever reason. :D

C3 was supposed to serve as a custom integrated VOIP solution for this game, but it was quietly abandoned after all the hype a year ago -- or so it seems. I haven't heard anything about an alternative built-in voice chat since the start of this year at least, and it's really necessary for a multiplayer game that has such a teamwork emphasis. Being able to have lance or teamwide toggles would be very welcome, maybe matchwide chat at the start and end the way several popular games do it.

Exactly... all this hype on a voice app that barely anyone used... was not a very easy-to-use program to begin with... and most folks tend to find a TS server like Comcast or NGNG to hop onto and play with folks versus running around being a pug... Communication is key, at home, at work, at school... with your significant other... and especially while gaming LOL! So, I give this to the Devs... give us a reliable, built-in comm system (NOT C3!) that is tied into the MWO servers... this won't stop me from having my Mumble server for my unit, but gives us more of a chance to play and communicate much easier with the rest of the MWO Community...

I'm almost positive C3 has been abandoned seeing as they had us using Teamspeak at the launch event.

Well, I see you got your forum badge, I can only assume that your in game badge works too.

Didn't you get your mechs, Premium time, MC and early entry into the BETA?

Oh, you did... nothing to see here then.

yeah but its a shame the game was so rushed and now all these new features will eventually come out and it would have been so much better to have it all again, even if i lose my 3 mastered mechs :D

Yeah, things really turned around when PGI removed ghost heat, fixed the scale and hitbox issues the geometry had, revised the movement mechanics, made all the autocannons distinct to give the LB10X a real role, added private lobbies on top of fixing the older "Elo matchmaker," plus the new mechbuilding tutorials are top-notch and really give a lot of feedback.

Honestly it helps that you can import/export XML loadouts of your favorite chassis, but better still is being able to test out any mech offline (glad they finally fixed the perk/hit detection/damage stats in the training grounds!) before committing to buying it, so much better than the ****-poor tabletop-variant trial mech system they used to give us. Haha, remember the Dragon that would shut itself down permanently on Caustic? With the recent DHS rebalancing, you're not obligated to use those on every mech, and the new engine upgrade/downgrade system means it's easier for new players to tweak their mech speed without investing in costly multi-million-cbill engine swaps anytime they want to try a new build.

All in all, I think MWO earned its 9.5 rating and we should give PGI a big round of applause. I heard that this month's Solaris tournament is going to have a secondary, exclusive founders event as a way to thank them.

Anyhow I gotta go finish picking our drop compositions for next week, we're making a strong push against a rival merc unit's periphery turf but after some losses this week I'm not sure if we can do much more than hold the clans back without making many territorial gains, it's up to our other Liao brothers to hold the line.

Back to reality, maybe we'll get 2011's dropship mode by the end of next year, and maybe the UI 2.0 designwork will be here in time for the 10% off Valentine's Day red paint sale.

Oh, and MWO holds steady at < 60% in ratings with every reviewer without exception expressing doubts about the staying power of the title, especially given noted failures to make good on critical feature delivery.

Sick. Burn.

Shouldn't you be out back washing my Phoenix mechs so they are shiny for next Tuesday?

That's not expecting... that's demanding.

Now get to cleaning.

I'm taking a wild shot in the dark here: You don't know how backers/investors work.

(I'm kidding, it wasn't a shot in the dark)

While I'm not "angry" that the flame camo wont be exclusive... I'm disappointed.

Many other things in this game have been exclusive promo to a small group or limited time. Founder's, Sarah's Jenner, many cockpit items, and I think a skin and/or paints. So my assumption that exclusive actually meant exclusive has a basis. (It did say "Exclusive")

That was part of the draw for me of the Phoenix package. Even if I didn't like the Phoenix variants and preferred a standard variant. I could still rock them out with an exclusive camo/paint job. One only available to those of us that preordered Phoenix. Camo's aren't cheap... some paints even cost more than other's to enhance the exclusivity. And exclusive camo... that's a big deal for some.

Am I raging over this? No. Do I feel like this lessens the appeal/value of the package? Yes. Would I still have bought overlord? Yes. Would I have still bought Saber? Maybe, maybe not...

Breaking my usual policy of ignoring people who like their own posts, as it's really just a weaksauce way of improving their rep, rather than actually posting something that people like...

Where, if anywhere, did it say we were investing in the product?

I know, I used to be of the mind and said I was investing in future entertainment, ergo, continuing the development of the game... of which I have already amassed more than significant RoI, and have even re-upped my investment more than a few times.

But to have any sense of entitlement, or feel you were misled after this amount of time. Wow... life is going to be one disappointment after another for you.

I ate that Big Mac 12 hours ago, and I'm hungry again... I've been deceived, it wasn't "big" at all.

You haven't been getting 10-K and 10-Q statements every quarter with your purchase of a founders package? If you didn't register properly, you're missing out on all the sweet dividends they are paying out!

There's dividends? And here I am buying MC like a sucker when I could have just set up a DRIP
