I say it again: PGI's 3D-modelers really have a body-builder fetish
Thunderbolt, Battlemaster, Centurion, Victor, always the same story.....concept arts are looking smooth, 3D-models have ugly proportions

Oh no, the Thunderbolt doesn't look like the concept art! Stop the presses! Halt the Phoenix release! God forbid they make alterations to a drawing made only to look good and give a general idea of the 'Mech design!
Wow.
Seriously, could this community be a bigger group of crybabies? "WHAAAA!!!! THIS 'MECH HAS MINOR ALTERATIONS FROM A CONCEPT ART DRAWING!!!! WHAAAA!!!!". It's f**king CONCEPT ART, for giving the general CONCEPT of the design and nailing down key features, for later modification as needed.
I see what you're saying, but...
The Locust model looks great. The Shadowhawk looks great, although too big (as expected). The Battlemaster looks ok.
I don't like the Thunderbolt. And at the risk of upsetting you more, I will say this - I am actually very happy that I no longer struggle with the choice of going with Guardian or Overlord instead of Storm package. So this poor design has put my mind at ease, if nothing else.

Hahaha, that's adorable, you thought I was only talking to you.
No.
I'm talking about every other f**ker on these forums, seemingly oblivious to the fact concept art is meant to be a base line for the general idea of something, and not a final blueprint.
But god forbid I point that out because then I'm just mad, and making a scene. Typical internet bullshittery.

Joke's on you, because I was actually not talking to you either. I'm talking about every other overreacting dolt on these forums.

Hey, would you look at that.
Neither of us are making a point against each other, but rather the forum as a whole. Wonderful stuff.

Indeed! The previous two models looked way better but this one is fine too.

The T-Bolt is beautiful. In the same lumbering, armored, well-armed death brick manner that the Maus is. I only bought a Project Phoenix pack for two 'Mechs - the T-Bolt and the Locust. The rest of them (and Saber) are just icing on the cake.

Shame, its my favourite from the Phoenix package too. Guess we'll just have to see how it performs.

You could be right. I guess we'll have to wait until we see it some more.

Yeah you're right with that, I was thinking of the Griffin for some reason.

I guess that is true, but I REALLY hate the look of those square energy hardpoints on the outside of arms.
This is especially true on the Kintaro-20, where both energy weapons are stacked away from the arm. They should always be stacked along the arm.
Either way, the rest of it looks good.

I would describe it as "brutally functional."
Not every mech has to be a triumph of form and function. Some are blunt instruments. The only phoenix 'mech I would describe as "pretty" is the locust -- which is good, because it has a decent chance of being a hanger queen.

Most of the time an XL goes into a heavy it's for speed, not firepower. And this sucker looks to have large side torsos. It's going to be able to zombie for a while, but without CT guns that's of questionable value as anything other than a temporary diversion. I don't know about actual groups, but in pugs a mech with no guns is like a feeding frenzy, when it should simply be ignored.

I thought the underslung weapon on the right arm gave it character. Now it is sort of meh. Also, it looks like it has ears and that makes it look a bit teddy bearish. lol
Sort of reminds me of a rehashed Awesome with a missle launcher and offset head.
I was really excited about this one, but now I'm sort of indifferent to it.

we dont expect that every model has to look 100% like on the concept art
but there are many models which are looking aesthetically worser than the concept arts,
on the other side, Ive never seen a model which looked better than the concept art. sometimes models are similar good, sometimes models are worser, but never better, thats poor

Hadn't thought of that, but it needs that old big barrel on the end of the laser to complete the look!
Don't think anyone has mentioned what appears to be a rather sizeable leg to torso ratio. I'm guessing if you shoot the crotch area it's going to be a leg hit?
