If a crosshair feels good is a personal opinion.
The one that is in the game right now feels really bad for me. I really would love to be able to change the crosshair around where the big cross is where my arms aims and the round little one is where my torso aims.
I would even pay with MC to be able to change them around :s Or to get new ones that feels better for me.

Any other who feels that we need an option to change our crosshair?

Ayup. Mods in general would be nice.

Probably another reason they need UI 2.0 first. The existing interface can't support that.

There actually should be one for every weapon system that is not in the same location. It would make the pinpoint efficiency better and also reflect a more TT interpretation of firing the different weapon groups. Just and idea :D

Thats a ridiculous comment. MWO would and should never support mods. Think about it.

Ok, thinking about it, and I still think it's a great idea.

The HUD should be fully customizable. I would change the layout a bit for sure.

It doesn't even need to be fully customizable. I'd be grateful for letting us change the color.

I second this. We're talking about a competitive mmo here. While you might be thinking of an innocuous mod that makes the HUD more user friendly, someone else would be thinking of a invincibility mod or a mod that makes MGs do 40 dmg per round. One of the reasons there are so many problems with HSR and hit detection is because everything is done on the server side. If it wasn't, we'd have people modding their clients to register every shot as a hit on their target's ct. No PVP mmo has ever or will ever allow modding for that reason.

That said, I've seen people who have changed some of the client code. It's usually small, and only the player using that client can see the change, but it appears to be possible. What I've seen has been simple like changing the texture of all the mechs to make them look shiny like chrome. Maybe somebody could figure out how to change the HUD display, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

But like you said, it is all server side. What you are using as a reason that mods are bad can't happen.

Right now any changes to the game files seems to crash the client, which is a good thing. However, if they develop proper APIs and the back end to allow the user to customize the interface, that would be great. The current one is a bit hard on the eyes, lacks useful information, and could be improved so many different ways. PGI doesn't have to make a great interface. They just need to give the players the ability to do so.

At least let us display actual information on the cockpit screens, I would never leave it in such a dysfunctional state!!

That would be a great place to allow a custom user interface to interact with. Think about if you could set up one of the screens to be a music player, and play music off your computer. Or a youtube player, so you can look at nekkid ladies while you play. SO many options for customization!
