So does the x2 first win still apply? Will we get 4x on the first win of the day for a mech?

I hope not. First, we demanded to remove the daily double experience; now, PGI is forcing double experience for a week down our throats. Way to go...

Oh I don't object to the double XP. It's a good thing for new players. I object because the goal of the weekend is now implicitly, "grind it out". It's such a boring mechanic without more engagement in the fights.... play more of the same matches, bonus, feel obligated to play to grind through that horrible mech you can't stand just to get it done with this weekend.

So un-fun.

I think you're reading too much into it.

Probably, as I said, I think these kind of events are great for new players. It's just that, as someone around for a long time with a good stable of mechs I've mastered and have XP just sitting on, but with the inevitable couple that I hate play/driving and didn't have the heart to sell, I do feel almost obligated to at least get a few wins on them while the XP earning is less painful... not because I like them, or want to play them, but it's just the most efficient time to do so if I own up that I want another mech I like more to unlock master. That's just not fun, but it is necessary at some point. Hence: grind.

Add to that the fact that I only play a few matches a week lately due to both time and lack of willpower for more of the same and that most everyone I know barely plays for the same reasons, and it's a let down further to realize my time in this game this weekend is going to done playing mechs I don't like.

Logical, but un-fun.

Well, they can't have a sale that appeals to everyone every weekend. Sales are a great way to generate revenue, but they can't always promote the best of the best, because they have to create artificial scarcity to really cash in when they do. If they had a double c-bill sale every weekend, fewer people would play during the week.

As for playing less, there is an ebb and flow, and we all experience it. I have a Bioshock Infinite icon on my desk staring me in the face, and a music parody video to finish up. Oh, and the Phoenix mechs are released in a few days too, so... priorities. Get the video done, start Bioshock, work on the Phoenix mechs when they are released. I probably won't be playing much for the next few days, and if I do drop it'll only be to record video. Anyone want to grab some AC2s and lasers and shoot me in the face repeatedly? :(

Convert to GXP (for modules) using MC. That's the whole point of it.

I am sorry to say that i don't see any point in converting the 300k+ xp i currently got on my YLW alone. We urgently need something else to spend our xp on imo.

Make something a giant xp sink though and people will scream it's pay 2 win, like they already do for 15000 gxp modules.....

*Edit - I bought 2 mech bays I would have otherwise not bought for hunchbacks so I can finally master my last founder's mech group. Seeing as I already have premium time running that means I'm getting 3x xp per match, I figure I can go from 0 to mastered in about 30 matches a piece.

Burn XP to get discounts off mechs, we can use our (vast) experience with mechs to haggle our prices! XD

Why would you ever demand the removal of double XP... how delightfully [dizzy] the community can be for this game ;(

Some of us may be founders and have been playing since CB. However, the number of matches I have played is nowhere near enough to have mastered even the humble stable of mechs that I own. Hell, I only have 3 of two chasis... and only one of those two I have actually mastered. Still need to grind up the elite tiers on one of them. Double XP weekend is lovely. I might even buy a day's worth of premium time.

If you guys want to make some money off of me....make it double XP conversion weekend. Do that and I will drop $100 spot. (Since I have mastered every mech...the extra XP does nothing for me...but double conversion is a different story)

They might next weekend. You know people will get XP this weekend and then next convert it.

Yay for 2x XP!

I have a couple Mechs that I am still unlocking Mastery skills and module slots for, so this is a good occasion for that. Double XP weekends are great for any player that *doesn't* already have a stable full of mastered Mechs, which is the majority of players in this game's player base. Also, double XP is a good way for enticing people to purchase new Mechs, as they can be leveled faster in a weekend, which encourages high gameplay server traffic for the weekend.

It's not all just about the c-bills. I hope I have the time to drop a few more matches this weekend to finish leveling my Firebrand and Hunchback-4H... After that, I can start banking more XP for my 2 Trebuchets until they release a Hero Treb to fill-out my trifecta.

No its not all about the C-bills, however some of us arent swimming in Cbills and also we have yet to my knowledge had a double C-bill event and this is the second or 3rd of this type.

Great googly moogly! I see someone is ready for the Clan invasion.

And double CBill weekend? Nope still won't activate premium time even if it means earning CBills 3.6 times after. Premium time + Hero Mech x double earnings.

Great. If only I had a mech I needed XP on. But I don't because I got sick of the grind after you nerfed C-bill gain. So thanks, but no thanks.

Usually not this guy. But sugar coating the rest of the game doesn't make up for the grind.

I think we have found the culprit behind the Cbill nerf reasoning :(

except they are a business who want to make money as any business should.

c bills now means less standard variants sold next week and dubble xp next week would mean less MC sold to get leveled up mach's before playing a game.
makes a lot of sense really.

It makes a lot of sense if you believe PGI is just a cold, business only entity that wants to squeeze every little bit of profit they can. Or if they want to portray themselves in that light.

It doesn't make sense if PGI wants to portray themselves as a partially crowd funded entity that is customer focused and smartly offer promotions to help the players enjoy the purchases they made (phoenix mechs) and generate a sense of community.

I have been thinking about investing more into this game (only spent $65 so far for a couple of hero mechs, mech bays and premium time) by purchasing the phoenix package and some MC this weekend, encouraged by the latest round of communication from the developers about the status of UI and CW and other works in progress.

But with the promotion of the grind and mistimed incentives, I don't think I will purchase anything. I do like this game and enjoy the free content in spite of the grind, but nothing done recently inspires me to spend money.

...but the phoenix mechs are tempting...12 mechs for $80...new shinies...should I...hmmmm
