Hey guys, appreciate it! Woulda been nicer to have this to start crackin' on my phoenix mechs as everything else is caught up. Still sweet to see a nice global boost though for everyone.

2x the arbitrary XP system.

Pretty ballsy to do this the week before everyone gets their pheonix mechs, a cute little '**** you' to everyone who bought them.

Double XP events are my favorite even. However, I think it would have worked better if it was after the Phoenix Project Mechs get in game. Not, immediately before.

I suspect the committed, here-since-closed-beta players aren't their target audience with this. A 2x XP weekend will boost new player retention, though, since they can quickly get a taste for the modules and efficiencies that await them. Those players who decide to commit to the game then have a chance to buy into Project Phoenix before the sale expires.

Doing it after everyone gets their ProPho mechs wouldn't be nearly as beneficial to the game, or PGI. Yes, it would be more advantageous to those of us who want to quickly put some XP on their new 'Mechs, but believe it or not, PGI are a company and don't do this solely for your enjoyment. You're already getting a bonus free thing on top of the already free game; how about being content with your Phoenix mechs working as advertised, rather than unexpectedly coming with an XP boost at the start of their life?

NOOOOOO! You couldn't do this next weekend so I could level my Phoenix Mechs? Oh well will just have to use the premium time. :D

The pre-Phoenix timing is well calculated.

1. Grind 2XP on your mastered mechs.
2. Convert all your XP to GXP with real money.
3. Insta-Master your entire Overlord package for some quantity of MC.
4. Impress your friends with your Mastered Battlemaster!

I won't do it, but I'm sure there are those who will.

As a (fairly) new player, I can say that doubled C-bills would have had me playing much this weekend while double XP means nothing. As it is the mechs I own are as maxed as they can be (I've gone through enough cicadas to have the one keeper elite, and my other mech is a basic'd dragon. I chose poorly) and simply can't afford another mech. I've gathered enough GXP to unlock my first module, but can't afford to actually -buy- the module. XP is not the barrier to progression in this game-- it takes far more matches to actually afford another mech than it does to 'max out' the basics (or even elites!) for the mech you have. And don't get me started on double heat sinks, etc.

To make an inevitable comparison, World of Tanks has a great variety in its weekends-- CREDIT price discounts on vehicles one weekend, XP bonuses the next, income bonuses another, etc etc. In my opinion PGI would do well to observe their methods of weekend events.

This will be another way for me to go over 200k GXP again.

Still waiting on more module/consumable unlocks though. =)

I bought a set of Jagermechs instead of a set of Orions and I am doing my best to finish mastering them before I have a dozen Phoenix mechs dumped in my lap. I think I made the right decision based on the way Orion seems to be performing in the field.

I know PGI hates me because they do the double XP weekend on the one weekend I will be out of town. If anyone needs me I'll be in the back yard pouting.

2x CBills <-- Make it happen.

Another worthless event. I mastered my Orions weeks ago. How about a tournament or goal based objective like Operation 24? Nobody needs more XP. You are already giving it out like candy. Double XP + first win of the day is overkill.

Well, it makes me try to drop in my Highlander, Ilya, and DDC every night after I do my round of Jagermech leveling. Keeps the hardware from getting rusty.

If it was double C-bill weekend I'd cash in some MC for premium time. Ehh...

Also, wouldn't the double XP be more appreciated after the Phoenix mechs arrived?

This forum has filled with people spouting putrid bile, hate filled garbage of late.

all you haters, **** off.

This is awesome. thanks for the event, we havent seen a double XP, or c-bill, or anything for a long time now, it is for sure welcome. Hopefully this means we will see some of the other stuff from the past, double c-bills and the mini- challenge events coming back around too.

My prediction: sale on GXP conversion next weekend lol. But thats cool anyway.

Yay? Um, I still won't play this weekend. I'm really, really bored of the grind. 2x XP does nothing to spend up getting my 2nd Orion, but *greatly* increases the rate at which it lock itself out of being able to spend it due to not having additional variants for Elite.

How utterly unhelpful (to me).
