Hey PGI, Would you consider tossing the clan assaults with low hanging arms a small bone?

Seriously, lots of us really hate mechs like the Gargoyle and Executioner which have low slung arms with so many of their energy weapon mounts bore sighted to shoot dirt. A small token would be to just load the mounts starting with the top mount points before preceding to the lower positions. They will still be very low in regards to the cockpit but every bit will help.

Is this too much to ask? If so my days of buying mechs with this big flaw are over. Since I bet many of us of coming to this same opinion, would you consider this minor revision before you lose future sales?

Seriously, short of heavy cannon barrels which might need a moment arm for recoil and a lower center of gravity for their weight, the lighter weight energy weapons would never be mounted so low. If one was battlemech design engineer in the Battletech Universe, common sense and reason would never allow such a foolish decision. Thanks...

This policy of filling arm hardpoints is one of the limiting steps to peek wars. And the game is filled with these to the brim. For example, if you look close enough, Cataphract got high mounted laser hardpoints in his STs. However, should you try to put PPCs there, they automatically get on his "belt".

Peek wars? right... Please take a look at the amount of mech one has to expose before a Executioner or Gargoyle, heck many others, has to expose before the top of their arm mounted lasers are clear. I did not say shorten the arms or move any hard points around. The mech models and art are well beyond that point. I am simply requesting PGI load the best hard point locations for the weapons first per rules of common sense and reason. Heavy guns, well I can under stand their positioning per the reasons noted in my first post, but lasers, that little extra elevation from bottom to top of hand would be a nice gesture on PGI's part.

BTW, on the point of PPC mounts does anyone at PGI have an opinion of what a PPC's mount would need in mass or recoil they entail? Both Sarna and the Battletech books are a bit ambiguous on this point. Might their recoil be at most like a small caliber gun like a AC2? Certainly it would not be anything bigger. As for their mounts being lower, the sources do say they need more mass than lasers for capacitors and shielding. This might lead to lower locations on mechs like the Cataphract for center of gravity reasons.

And if you actually look, all the assaults got thrown out of peek wars even harder, to compensate for firepower possible. And, while your arguments about Gargoyle being inferior is somewhat justified, Executioner still a 95 tonner that may run at speed of fast heavy/average medium with jumpjets to boot. Gotta hit him with a hammer once or twice to keep them out of being a Top Dog.
