What Happened To Players' Skill?

Previous time I checked MWO sometime around 12v12 implementation, and I was surprised how well matches were going. I witnessed no pugstomps at all, relatively low amount of disconnects/afkers, and almost every match was ending with few damaged mechs standing.
Now this time I've been playing for several days, and all that goodness is gone. Pugstomps are back — I've just had fuсking 12:0. Even if a match goes relatively well, lots of players are doing terribly — once again I regularly have to endure stealthy assault lances backstabbing me cause noone on my team has/uses ecm or ppc, or players doing 17 dmg per match, and other similar stuff.
Can someone explain me what happened here?

Also noticed a trend in some topics that people seem to be meeting the same persons over and over again in matches, and that can mean the playerbase has declined very far, meaning the games can't be "evenly matched" by the elo system.

First, this game encourages NOT to play: if you are new, and can count (for more than you have fingers...) one realises very fast, that PLAYING the game (esp. in stock mechs) is just time wasted. You have no modules, you have terrible mechs, you have no friends protecting you. But if you launch a game and give it you best, you get double the xp in the best case, if you launch and just quit, you can "play" 3 to 4 times the matches AND get 2-3 times the C-Bills and XP. (XP ARE important for new players, mastering the first mechs AND geting modules at all...)
Second: if you happen not to play a pimped Heavy + mech, you can only do that much (you can and will survive a bit in a light mech, but how many atli will you kill that way, that are matched against you?) playing solo as new player in Pubs without Autocanon heavy mechs is a bad expirience and most of the time WHAT you do does not matter at all...looking at first, WHY even try?

While I agree with you in that the new player experience is abysmal for various reasons. All time spent playing any video game is a "waste of time". They're entertainment.
I can understand why you're frustrated but as a new player what would you do different? Stomping up and down and saying "it sucks" doesn't really help anyone figure out how it can be changed.

I do play WoT since some time and this game has its own flaws, but is massivly better. MWO seems much more like a FPS Shooter with balancing problems and player avatars that just have not the appearance of humans but look like mechs instead.
Gameplay is heavier blob wins, roles are non existent, sensor warfare does not exist, heck even sensors does not exist in the first place, just line of sight optics with ecm "camouflage", no datatransfer to teams and such things one would expect from Battletech (radar, magnetanomalie sensors and the like working together with enemy movement/possitions and indirect fire ?...)
What we have is a step grind (unless you played allready a long time, then you have all allready...) in an unbalanced blob shootout on mostly small maps (yes, you can cap... ohh that fun).

MWO has been public for over a year now. Anyone who wanted to play tried it out in open beta. There is no large influx of tweens, teens, adults, geriatrics or infants playing this game since release was only an accounting date and nothing else.

Considering the amount of new players (asking new player questions) and immature chat spam I've seen since "launch" I would disagree. There has definately been an influx of players from my observations. YMMV, naturally.

It's very subjective. The reason for more stomping arent noobs or anything like that, IMHO. It's the current metagame. From a heavy sniping meta, we've moved into a not-quite-defined mess.
The best matches I've ever had in MWO were in 12v12 before the mass sniping (gauss and erppc) nerfs. For 10-15 games in a row there would be consistent 8-12, 10-12 even 11-12 scores. And very clutch fights. Was wonderful, just like you said.
The mass stomping really came in after the nerfs. Since your team now has a more or less random loadout it means you can perform coherently. (if there's a ranged standoff, half the team or more can't do a thing etc) Combine that with the fact that close brawling snowballs very, very fast when there are 12 mechs, and you have this.
One of 3 things usually happen in increasing likelyhood:
P.S. I'm not saying the nerfs were bad. We have more variety now and people are forced to experiment. That's good. It's just that this is the natural consequence of transitional stage.
