It's apparently getting a 190. Which will actually get it to break 160kph with speed tweak, IIRC.

No jumpjets, less tonnage to work with, and less armor...um...no...this thing is gonna need all the speed it can get.

But nobody will know for sure until Tuesday.

The question is, which mech will get a spead tweak, too? Who will be able to run with the locusts?

A 20 tonner will always have a hard time in full-out customization mode, no matter what. The auto-botting streaks in MWO, that are unlike any more skilled-required streaks from previous Mech Warrior games, will also annihilate them. I already know this, since I purposely use 132 armor only on my Spider - jumping or moving sharply does not stop them from hitting.

I would take a Flea or Locust, any day, in a Stock Mode though. They have a good mix of speed and weapons, even though the armor is only 50+% coverage stock. But, vs. slow Ravens/Commando's, and lightly armored Jenners/Spiders, it would fair very well.

If they can increase the engine size, then sure why not, just as long as they fix the engines so they can handle Mechs going fast.

One of the reasons I'd like to see them be able to carry 2 (or more!) AMS slots. That'd be awesome. They could be mobile missile defense platforms as well as cappers, harassers and scouts.

In theory one of the variants we're getting (LCT-3M) will have 2 AMS slots, since it comes with an AMS stock.

I would like a Chitter module that I can put on Locusts and Cicadas, to distract and or surprise my foes with.

One of the guys at MechSpecs did the math and the Locust, with the 190, will cruise at 169.3kph tweaked out. So, for now, it looks like the speed barrier has been broken. In the future, when they get around to adding it, MASC will blow the doors open and probably push us very close to the 200kph barrier (I am excite!!!)

As of yet there is still no chitter module. But damn wouldn't that be annoyingly cool? LOCUST/CICADA SWARM!!!!

They need to increase the engine size for the Locust to 280 and put in small cockpits, so we can build the 6M variant without MASC.

The newest variant of the Locust, the 6M used a massive 280 Hermes XL Engine to propel it to an astounding speed of 226.8 km/h and was capable of bursts of speed reaching 302.4 km/h through a MASC system. The 6M used a Small Cockpit to save weight with the side effect of making the 'Mech harder to pilot and utilized Ferro-Fibrous armor to get the most of the light armor the 'Mech carried. It was armed with two Magna Mk VI ER Medium Lasers, which were backed up by a single Magna Mk IV ER Small Laser. The -6M was produced by Corean Enterprises on Stewart.[48][49]

I can only dream of going 226.8 kph in a Locust. LOL

No Problem with 226 kph
BUT Pilot Test for Turning must be included somehow.

Thats what balanced light Mechs in TT

so for the dasher/firemoth 162.0 km/h (216.0 km/h with masc)
and the locust with all upgrades 169.3 kph (219.3 with masc)

There is a Locust before that, from 3066 that goes 190 km/h without MASC. The LCT-5M. The Locust max engine size should be increased definitely somewhere between 230 and 280.

There are some Clan Mechs that come with 3 AMS in their Stock Configs.
