Ok so this is mostly aimed at the Spider and Atlas but I'll outline my problem with both
Firstly having the new Champion Spider as a trial mech is really hurting low-mid ELO gameplay as new players who tend to pick it are the sort of people who click "take company command" immediately, then dont say a word and run off full pelt down a flank and die 2 minutes into the match. As funny as that seems, if thats your team member it can be very infuriating. But the problem isnt just a dead spider it's that there are usually 2-3 more SDR-5K C's on the team. And the all do the same thing which is NOTHING AT ALL. Now I'm not here to complain about the SDR-5K C I'm sure it has it's place in the game and in the right hands it can be very useful but having it as a trial mech encourages people to pick it (again nothing wrong with encouragement so long as its to make the right choice) and so it now means that I'm dropping with 8 other players on my team instead of 11. As we all know as soon as you build up a kill lead and counter damage hasn't been applied to the enemy (I.e being picked off one by one) the game very quickly snowballs for the enemy team. This is usually a good thing as it means you have to play as a team. But here is my problem, the lower the ELO you are the less team play there is and with your light mechs dead who is going to stop the inevitable cap victory?
In short by having this mech as a trial pick it is handicapping a team that includes them.
My other problem is the Atlas though this one isn't too bad.
Weapons testing... you know it's 10 seconds into the game and your rear armor is already yellow due to lasers and you know that that RS is going to stand in the open firing the remainder (he's already used 25% of them into your back or a near by rock) of his LRMs at the first target available. It's always an atlas! and you know its just some guy on the other end whos just got in it and things COOL SO MANY WEAPONS so decides to ALPHA EVERYTHING!!! but in a fight he's overheating with 4ML spam and those LRMs are just splashing off the enemy at point blank range. As for the Gauss, well he doesn't know how to use the charge up mechanic BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING TO EXPLAIN HOW IT WORKS NOW.
So this is yet another wasted player slot and again there are usually 2 of these per team in low ELO play.
I understand that they are new players and yes ELO is there for a reason but it's so hard to turn games around in MWO. Which as I said is fine for the average game as this encourages cautious play. But new players arn't cautious and as such low and even sometimes mid ELO is a complete mess. Please think before you trial.

So, you are really complaining about new players, not the trial mechs. Dragon (C) has a gauss that the player won't know how to work, so that leaves them two LL. Not very effective. And the Trial Cent still has a heat problem if used to alpha a lot. So none of the trial mechs will work for what you want given a new play. And that's the Champion mechs which are night and day above the stocks.
So, as I said, your complaint boils down to you not wanting to play with new players because they Run off and get killed or Test fire into you, or don't know how to manage heat, or........
Many of us suggested ages ago two queues. One for Novice pilots to learn the game together (only trial mechs allowed to even the playing field) and one for veterans to play for real. Shot down at every turn by those that a)want easy kills to plump up their K/D ratios or b)swear that the split would kill the game (despite PGI claiming over 1.4 million users, and talking about splitting the base with the overseas servers)
Knuckle up buttercup. Play well enough to take up the slack for the newbs, or die trying. Its all you can do.

I totally forgot about the Dragon champ, thanks. But my point still stands!
And I guess. But I don't want to count the noobs out just yet as we all had to start somewhere but I just know as this game grows in popularity it's just going to drag in more and more casual players with little patience. Which in turn will A. ruin our games and B. could possibly give PGI money, so we have a dilemma here.
This is getting a bit off topic but going back I agree separate queues or better explanations as to tactics pre-drop. would help a lot I think.
Also what about community voted trial mechs?
