I've started recording my gameplay in FRAPS. Yeah, I know its not the best but it was quick and easy to use.

Here are the first two that I've uploaded

The first was shot at half screen and the second at full, but I've noticed that the text ares aren't very legible. Is there a way to get more crispness in the videos? What settings should I be using?

Thanks

I haven't used fraps very much, but it could be that it isn't recording at max resolution. Make sure it's recording at 1080p and see if that helps it.

I just remembered as well that the youtube compression can also do that. Check the original video files too.

I doubt it's a fraps issue. Compare the videos you uploaded to the raw videos fraps actually records and see if there's any difference.
Also, on both videos I can only go 480p. What are you using to edit \ compress the fraps files? What is your full resolution you play and record in?

I'll check the originals when I get back to the house Tomorrow night. I thought I recalled them being a bit better in those terms.

Used whatever Microsoft editor was on my computer. again likely not the best I know. Used it to cut then beginning and ending down to manageable size and save the file in a smaller size (man Fraps can eat up space quick). I'll check the setting there too.

Yup, Fraps eats up space pretty quick. Lowering the capture FPS and size helps. If you have free space to spare 60FPS capture is fine, but otherwise I'd probably try 30 or custom 29.97. Maybe half-size.
Also if you're having performance issues while recording considering a dedicated fraps drive might be an option. If it loads the game files and records to same drive things can get a bit sluggish.
But yeah, get us back with the settings and we'll see if we can improve on this.

Edit; Personally not familiar with the movie maker that comes with Windows, but I would think there is also options to render in HD and increase the bitrate of the video.

It only starts having a problem if I run up close to the drive limit. If I transfer them to a smaller version, then it's not an issue.

I'll have to look, but I wouldn't be surprised if the included video editor wasn't a trial version at that. But I'll see what it has for options before I replace it.

All fixed

Found that the Microsoft program had a "save in HD" selection.
