I think he's saying the 3M is going to be very popular.

We all know that there is SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE out there that will cram an ERPPC into that little chassis, somehow.

Let me see here 5 medium lasers, 2 AMS, 169.3 KPH in the smallest mech in existence.

Yeah I would say that's going to be VERY popular.

Might be hard to fit DHS like that, though, and 10 SHS can just barely handle a lone ML as it is. It'll depend on what tonnage the engine will be (190 engine is supposed to give 176.9 kph, so apparently it just got lowered).

EDIT: NVM that last sentence, I forgot that speed tweak is only +10% instead of +15%.

190/20 * 16.2 = 153.9 kph without speed tweak

153.9 * 1.1 = 169.3 kph with speed tweak

Oh, whoops. I had a brainfart and thought that speed tweak gave 15% speed boost instead of 10%.

In that case, the Locust just got even less impressive. :\

EDIT: I goofed around on Smurfys. If you use near-max armor (3 points off of the head), it is physically impossible to fit an XL 190 at the same time as 2 AMS, 1 ton of ammo, and 5 ML, even with Endo and FF. You need 1 extra ton of weight to do so. Swapping 2 ML for 2 SL will do the trick, and help with heat management too. It has exactly zero critical slots available after cramming this stuff in. Actually seems like a fairly good loadout for a mech armored in cardboard, the only thing that sticks out to me is that it'll run out of AMS ammo quickly.

With 2AMS it could be almost immune to streaks, especially staggered ones.

Not at all. AMS still does little to protect you boint blank

It would be interesting to see a pair of locusts moving around the team keeping the skies free from LRMs.

It really would be amusing, theoretical build:
Endo, DHS, XL190
2x AMS (2t), 5SL, 10DHS, armor full (minus 2 on head).

170kph with a 15pt alpha every 3 seconds at 52% heat efficiency and strong defense against streak missiles.

Personally I'd prefer the 3 ML, 2 SL, 2 AMS (1 ton of ammo) config that uses FF.

Yeah you would have to I guess, you would be a ton shy with the 5 meds and dual AMS

I dunno, at 170kph you might actually be fast enough to get by with just smalls, and a single ton of AMS ammo goes away pretty quick with 2 AMS units.

We NEED Laser AMS! Now!! (and the ability to use it as a small pulse laser when not shooting down missiles!)

On the face of it I'd agree with that.

But, all we have heared about is the 3M and very little on the 1V(P) and nothing on the 3S. Sure we can use TRO 3025 or 3050 but how accurate are those considering how often PGI change things to suit the game.

Apart from the odd twitter and the Phoenix page itself I'm not seeing much data to suggest all the "premiums" a right-off just yet.

Well that tonnage won't fit with all that but it will fit if you run a single AMS and drop some armor.

Like a cicada your arms will never be hit anyways. =)
