With the addition of CW I would like see Technicians added to the game. Their job would be to repair your mechs after matches. Rearm & Repair seemed to fail because it felt as if you were penalized for putting up a good fight. I would propose that technicians would be “paid” with a percentage of your CBill earnings from the match. This would always insure that you never end up paying more in repairs than you made in the match itself.

Technician Types

· Base Technician (No cost - lowest chance of successful repair)

· Better Technician (Low cost – better chance of successful repair)

· Best Technician (Highest cost – you get the idea)

(Of course you could have more tech levels, listed 3 for the purpose of illustration)

Possible Repairs & Consequences of Failed Repair
Engine

· lowered top speed

· engine failure (might power down at random during the match)

Aculators

· Bad Knee – fall damage causes damage to internal armor or reduced turn radius

· Tennis Elbow – reduced arm movement

· Bum Hip - Reduced torso twist speed or range

Sensors
· Short Sight – reduced sensor range
· Concussion – headshots to mech could cause sensors to fail
Gyro
· Dizzy – reticule stability issues
Etc
· Etc
· Etc

Technician Skill Trees
Technicians could have their own skill tree as well. Successful repairs would earn them skill points. The points would be applied to make the tech more proficient at making specific types of repairs. For example: Engine Specialist I, II, III, etc. Like the pilot tree, skills could be learned for a specific chassis. However I would like to see the technicians get credit for their experience. If a tech masters repairing the Jenner, it should not take him/her (keeping it PC) as long to learn to repair other mechs within that same class.

Disclaimer: This is only an idea. You can choose not to like the idea. I only ask to keep comments constructive. It’s not like it’s going to make it into the game unless you scream that it is the most stupid thing you have ever heard. (Probably won’t make in-game either way) But feel free to critique and make suggestions.

While interesting, I would much rather pay exorbitant prices to have repairs done than to pray the RNG doesn't screw me over after every match.

Balance would be important. I envision that successful repairs would be far more common than failures (maybe 1 in 10 matches you have some type of failure). There could also be a cap on the numbers of possible failures so that you would not have a completely useless mech. There could also be a match timer for repair. If you have a failure you could fight thru it or pilot a different mech for X number of matches at which time you damaged mech would be completely repaired regardless.

I had a similar idea. Instead of having a chance of gear not being repaired you pay for discounts on your repair bills through MC. You rent techs via MC and they offer a discount on your repair bill for the duration of their contract.

So, for example:

Green Tech = 50 MC for a 10% discount on repair bills
Basic Tech = 100 MC for a 15% discount on repair bills
Expert Tech = 200 MC for 25% discount on repair bills

Of course this would require R&R to be implemented again.

I'd love to see a full tech squad to support mechs & such but i fear it is unecessary fluff. maybe some day in the long distant future.

If Repair & Rearm were to be reintroduced, Technician skills could be used to help...
The pilot themselves could have a 'Mech Tech skill; just like RPG's skills would improve through use, after each drop. More drops = higher skill, regardless of skill-check/success(?)

The player could then have options to repair:
1) Attempt to repair themselves (Repair by other Players?)
1a) Select components for repair as part of extended campaign
1b) Repairs dependent upon type of Campaign, or fixed duration.
2) Pay C-bills for repair

Rearm is still plausible and we already have a Mech in lore that can do it the http://mwomercs.com/...-patron-loader/ . The question is (and its a big one) would people be prepared to run units that were not front line? If you look at the link you will see that I am on record for saying that I would. Dependant on how CW is implemented, I can see a lot of opportunity for non combat roles, especially in the mining / resource roles; of course that doesn't mean that they would be exempt from being taken out; after all they are legitimate targets.

I forgot to mention the http://mwomercs.com/...92-repair-mech/ Thread. This thread explores the option of an as yet not designed or available Medi Mech. I'll let you read the thread and comment either through it or back on this thread; as you will find its an emotive subject because it discusses units outside of lore.

Customizing your hangar and defeloping your tech-team could add a layer of cool stuff to include for a small mc fee.
