In the September announcement (here) Bryan Ekman talks about various types of contracts; planetary assualt/occupation, skirmish and bounty contracts. My question is: Is this contract system only going to exist in the meta-game leaving the game play pretty much unchanged as it is today, or is it going to be implemented with new maps and game-modes?
Someone in another tread recently mentioned that mediums will become more popular when a 3 man medium cap team can capture planets. I find that idea disturbing. I truly hope that that is not the direction the game is taking.

To answer your question, yes. Multiple game modes such as death match, team death match, and attack/ defend are under development.

the hope is that CW is going to bring more than what we have now as far as depth. Most of what is being tossed around as ideas are conjecture at the moment based on how things are interpreted and the info given thus far. I think it's a pretty safe bet that pgi knows that at this point they simply have to add more game modes and diversity. What they have now simply isn't going to cut it long-term for retention. New players will get bored and about the only ones that would stick around would be hardcore bt players wanting their stompy mech fix

Ok I have another question.
I recall learning many months ago that PGI intended to set up regional servers around the world (yay no more 300ms pings). My question is: Is the meta game going to be broken into Euro, US and Oceanic regions?
I can imagine there being a lot of ping envy from merc corps trying to defend their planets against agressors on lower pings.

That one hasn't been mentioned by the dev team as far as I know. So your guess is as good as anyone's at this point

I so so hope that it wont be broken up. Mainly as there are alot of Merc Corps such as my own that have players from all around the world on one team playing at US time.
