I voted yes under the terms that the 5th to 12 mechbay has to be payed by C-bills... with each bay rising in C-bill price.

(it beats being stuck with 4 mechs and having half a billion c-bills that can't be spent on anything besides arty and coolshots)

Voted yes as a show of support for the concept of more free mech bays for new players (not an issue for me either of course), but 12 is probably too much, even though it does seem like an ideal number at first glance.

You need 4 mastered mechs for CW, which means unless you want to bring 4 60 ton mechs (4 mech bays needed without having to sell anything) you need to buy more mech bays to be effective. 3/1 and 2/2 need 6 mech bays (without having to sell anything), 2/1/1 needs 9 and 1/1/1/1 needs 12, or 3200 MC. This figure is a bit intimidating for a new player when they are working out how much real money they will need to play CW without the depressing attrition of selling mechs as you go.

We have to take in to account any (potential) free mech bays from CW rewards and achievements, balancing that against how long it will take someone to get them, and for that reason I think 6 free bays is a better number. To that we add a few relatively quick extra free bays via achievements to bring the number to 8, while stretching the rest (9+ free bays) into longer term rewards.

There are so many mechs now that PGI can (and already do) really throw mech bays around and people will still buy them. Given that number, and the 3 variant XP model the game uses, we really need to give new players more slots faster just to let them play with the rest of us.

6 is a sound number. I would go for that and give new players a bit more flexibility while not jettison the reason for what the game is set to be. A free to play and if you wish, pay game.

Listen I play the game the f2p way. I started with 4, and through challenges I now have 16. 16. I've been here 2 years, I don't have enough time to play all the time. It's fine the way it is.

I think 6 would be fine.

From a CW Perspective;

3 Mechbays to master one Mech; sell 2
1 more to master 3 mechs, sell 2
1 more to master 3 mechs, sell 2
1 more to master 3 mechs.

Total 6 required for 4 completely masters mechs to enter CW.

Two events just went by that would have given you 2 mechbays if I am not mistaken. If they continue to do an event every week or so to offer a mech bay, this is a moot issue.
