Situation:
Draconis Combine forces attempt to counter a perceived attempt by an AFFC mercenary unit to annex planet. Outworld Alliance garrison defends in place. Resulting civilian casualties approximately 89% planet population destroyed. Both DCMS and AFFC mercenary losses were so extreme that all units fell back leaving the disposition of the battle a stalemate....
Many pilots have fought and died for their belief in many things. They have died for honor, peace, justice, greed, power, wealth and some died because being a MechWarrior is all they knew.
Things started to change for many pilots of the houses and even within the merc units. Pilots of the battle for Crestoblus had seen unjustified slaughter of innocent civilians and destruction of cities and towns...all for nothing and this was becoming an all too familiar scenario. Things needed to change, not just for this sector but for all houses and the inner sphere.
A small group of MechWarriors from different houses came together to forge a new breed of Warrior that would uphold their own codes and beliefs. Loyalty to each other above all. This group of mercenary pilots fought countless battles leaving a wake of bloodshed and destruction of their enemies. Some of these heroes fell in battle and they will forever be remembered in the archives of history. The houses of the inner sphere took notice of this merc unit, the smart ones reached out to them for an alliance in battles and the foolish wanted them destroyed, but all feared these pilots and what they stood for...total freedom and equality.
Little by little their numbers started to grow and were becoming stronger and stronger as their name struck fear and awe into their enemies and allies. Many have asked where did they come from? Who are they? Are they a threat or a protector? These questions were never answered to those asking the questions. Every pilot that joined this group was reborn with a new identity, their lives before this were washed away. One thing everyone knew, if they got a contract it was fulfilled and not to pay was a death sentence.
Across the Inner Sphere news of their exploits spread, children pretend to be them, men want to be them, and women hope for just one night with one of them. Respect grew amongst even the most loyal House units. This group is still growing but now the Great Houses have taken notice and vie for their services with increasing vigor.
A soldier from the Capellan Confederation said during a interview after a battle with the merc unit, "They came out of nowhere and destroyed us within minutes. Not many of us survived that battle. I will never forget their battle standard or names!"
Thus the EBONHEART DRAGOONS forged their names into history...it is written, so it is done!
