When you submerge the locust in water, the cockpit (frame, controls, etc..) gets the ripple effect from the water instead of remaining stable while items beyond it are affected.

Pretty sure this happens with all small mechs. I know the Spider can do it, and I'm pretty sure the Jenner and Commando can as well.

I like to pretend that my mech is designed terribly, and there's just water pouring into the cockpit whenever I submerge. Bonus points if you somehow manage to get your head under the water.
