The developers have stated on multiple occasions that they will never display Elo scores. However, what if they added leagues to MWO similar to Starcraft 2? Basically, this would be an official ranking system within the game without giving exact details about the player, especially Elo score. Players may get moved to another league, depending on their performance. This system would allow players to see if they improved their game and see how good the competition is. MWO leagues could look something like this...

Only comment is it should be performance based not number of games... that just ***** me as I'm better than a lot of players who play a lot more

And 1 week after this happens the first players will be paying other players real money to raise their Elo scores and "get them out of Elo hell" (just so they can failboat themselves back down in 2 days), Asian "power leveling companies" will start spamming the forums and farming the servers, and teh game will go right down the *******.

Just so some kid could stroke his wang and scream "my number is higher than yours!" in his sleep? ... :D

The problem is that even if you make the Elo scores themselves secret, people will have a rough measure of where they stand, will attrribute this to everyone else constantly failing more than they do, and will pay for percieved convenience of not having to "play with the scrubs" on their way to their "deserved" Grandmaster ranking. And anybody with 2 functioning brain cells and a bank account knows how to take their money :)

Better to have no competition. I have an even better idea. We should remove the scoreboard from the EoM or better yet make it so that nobody loses and everybody wins. We also hand out participation trophies CBs. Yay.
:D :D ;)    :)

Starcraft 2 is a solo game. It's ladder is definitely great, but it is designed with single person performance in mind.

It doesn't work in a team game anywhere near as good, if at all. It is basically ELO with progression up and down implemented through the edge cases (there are basically invisible leagues between the official leagues that you have to beat to advance, get beaten by to get lower, they are overlapping with the adjacent real leagues and create a mishmash that better stays hidden... but it works). The system falls on it's face even in 2v2, let alone 12v12.

PGI aim for e-sports, ranking system seems unavoidable!
